today it was supposed to snow, and... it did. a lot. it started in the early hours of the morning and went until nine or so (pm), with wind. there were three people on my bus this morning and a whopping six total at work - me and five tax associates. (there's always someone in tax.) i went home around 12:30 - it took like an hour and the bus slid a bit a couple of times - and sat on my couch and did not have a very busy day. it was in fact a verrrry slow day, but at least it was a slow day at home with my fabulous orange couch and my own snacks.
we got a lot of snow, tho.
15" on the hood and i think 17" on the roof. (the roof was hard to measure because a. my ruler is only 12", and b. i'm just not that tall.) at least it was all light fluffy snow, and thus easy to shovel.
in totally other less weather-related news, one of the women in my writing group is submitting a trilogy of nanonovels for critique, and since they're about a vampire hunter just discovering that she comes from a long line of vampire hunters, and since i've had a weird urge to rent only lovers left alive, i've been thinking about vamps. "one thing about living in santa carla i never could stomach...." :D share with me your favorite bits of vamp lore! western vamps, eastern vamps, whichever.
(we're only on the first nanonovel of the trilogy. it has a wholly predictable and therefore boring romance subplot and takes what i think is a very traditional and romanian view of vampires - the heroine/vampire-hunter-to-be is of romanian descent - but there's some nice creepy bits.)
does anyone else have a hard time adjusting to daylight savings? because i still feel an hour behind. i miss that hour of sleep.
