first we ask about pie
first, the important question. my sister is having a dinner party on saturday, with our local cousins from mom's side of the family, and i volunteered to make dessert. i found two pies in the fabulous pie cookbook she got me for my birthday a couple years ago, and they are:
a. bourbon-maple pecan pie, with chocolate chips and drizzled with chocolate ganache (is there any other kind of ganache?)
b. hoosier sugar cream pie, which looks kind of custardy in texture and is made with white sugar, brown sugar, a little flour, a lot of heavy cream, and vanilla paste, and which apparently tastes like something between creme brulee and melted caramel ice cream (that's what the cookbook says)
i've made chocolate-chip pecan pie before, altho not with bourbon and maple syrup and definitely not with chocolate ganache, but i've never even heard of hoosier sugar cream pie, much less tasted it and even less made one. i'd hazard a guess none of my cousins have heard of it either, because none of them are hoosiers. the sugar cream pie seems to be much easier to make. the bourbon maple pecan pie might be more impressive. both sound good to me. which one do i make? i need an opinion.
today i wrote a little over 2400 words for my bigbang (there was some waffling but also i introduced some new characters), went to the grocery store (where there were girl scouts selling cookies!), and curled. actual league games were canceled tonight on account of super bowl, so we had a pick-up game. and my team won! at one point we were up 9-0 (which is a pretty big spread), but the other team got their shit together, pulled ahead, and ultimately lost when we managed a holy shit shot with our last stone. so yay, go us. :D now i'm watching white collar reruns and matt bomer is excessively, unfairly pretty. so it's been a good day.
yesterday a comcast tech came to look at my tv and ideally figure out why i wasn't getting nbc, so of course it was working. >.< i got my comics, had a fun conversation with the guy who owns the comic shop, bought a box of thin mints, saw hidden figures with my sister (if you haven't seen it i highly recommend it, because it is so good) (i might have teared up several times), went out for dinner, stuffed my face. so it was also a good day.
tomorrow it's back to work and the 3000 pages of pdf. fun. excitement. :|
there's a video game called conan exiles which has an endowment slider, which means that if you play a female character you can make her tits bigger (because video games), but if you play a male character you can make his dick bigger. you can also choose how dressed or naked your character is. and if you're playing a guy, and he's naked (or mostly naked), you can enjoy some fun peen physics. seriously. you don't even have to read that article, but you should check out the gifs.
