happy halloween, o my flist! and a blessed samhain to them what celebrate it.

there was a little boy dressed as spiderman on the bus this morning. also a woman in a wonder woman t-shirt. but that was it for costumes! i did see some trick-or-treater groups after work - i dropped off my rent so i was driving around - but the only kid i got a good look at was a rey. she didn't have a bb8, tho. i brought my tiny velvet pirate hat to work so at least someone was holiday festive, and i got one "what are you wearing?" from coworker d and a bunch of "i like your hat"s from other people. i didn't look remotely piratical aside from the hat, but it made me feel fun, so.

in a spooky/creepy halloween vein, allow me to mention that there's an actual project dedicated to finding out if books bound in human skin really are. they've tested thirty books so far and eighteen of them have been proven to be bound in people. ewwww.

in voting news, because there's going to be voting news for the next week, a guy in criminal court in tennessee asked the judge if he could go vote before he was sentenced, because if he was convicted, he'd be a felon, and felons can't vote. he was only twenty, so this would be his first (and likely last) election. the judge was so impressed he let the guy vote.

there's a bookstore in cairo with a soundproof "screaming room". you can go and yell and scream and make crazy ridiculous noises, and then leave the room and be done. i think this is a great idea.

the cubs are in the world series for the first time since 1940-mumble, my curling team won last night, i have brunch-flavored candy corn and frozen chocolate chips, and there were a lot of neat costumes, adorable children, and costumed dogs on twitter today. life is good.

nano starts tomorrow! well, after midnight tonight. :D if you're so inclined, my nanonovel will be at smackenzie and i make no promises for coherence or, uh, historical accuracy. i'm excited to start.

well this is creepy as shit, good ideas, halloween, new job second floor, voting, nanowrimo
