there were fireworks in boston tonight!
tamalinn and i went down to the waterfront to see them. much less crowded than fourth of july fireworks, probably because who sets off fireworks for labor day? right? it's not a firework holiday. they were fun, tho. there are some things you just never outgrow.

there's one tattoo shop left that still does them. the stencils are all carved wood blocks that are at least a couple centuries old.
apparently vikings were buried with board games! along with, you know, weapons and food and whatnot. maybe drinking and fighting in valhalla gets old after a while.
so writing romance novels is frowned on in academia, at least for this one phd candidate. because snobbery, i guess. their scientist friends think it's great. their academic colleagues mostly don't know.
in totally other news, i know how my bigbang ends. \o\ /o/ \o\ /o/ (yes i know it's next year's bang. i have to plan these things early.) now i just have to figure out how to get there.
