What I just finished reading:
the bingo palace, which i tried to read critically, i really did - because i've read it for pleasure so many times - but i just can't. i still love it as much as i always did.
What I am reading now:
shadowscaper, which i'm really enjoying. i kinda like that "white" isn't the default when describing people's appearances - the main character's puerto rican and her apparent love interest is haitian, and the default in her world is not-white. when a white person appears they're explicitly described as such. (in that way it reminds me a little of the rivers of london books.) and the idea of shadowscaping is pretty cool.
What I'm going to read next:
probably louise erdrich's tracks - or i might reread love medicine - because i unearthed it in my parents' basement last sunday, and since i reread the bingo palace i want to reread the rest of them. (maybe not the beet queen, because that was my least favorite.)
meme stolen from tumblr:
describe your writing process in three words or less.
"shit. needs plot."
unless we're talking about my bigbang, in which case it's either "shit. needs details" or "too much introduction". >.< i look at it and despair.
your turn. :D (well, for the writers in the audience.)
this is just a neat article about family heirlooms and the art of curling one's hair in the nineteenth century.
an asteroid smacked into jupiter earlier this month. (altho maybe it was a comet.) the impact was caught on video by an amateur astronomer. i love amateur space science.
cute spider-man comic, linked mostly for the cowboy bebop reference.
