mmm, doughnut
today i left the front desk for like ten minutes and when i got back there was a doughnut for me! a nice yeast doughnut with dark chocolate glaze. and the woman who i know got it for me, i don't know her last name or where her cube is so i couldn't find her and thank her! (she just started on monday.) she's really friendly and yesterday we were talking about doughnuts, so when she went out to get lunch she got me one. she did eventually come back to the desk so i could thank her and we could talk about doughnuts.
also this morning i had a really nice and totally unexpected chat with the woman sitting next to me on the subway, and a woman got on the train with a well-behaved and very cute king charles spaniel, so the front half of my day, aside from the fact that i had to sit at the front desk, was pretty good. i mean, doughnut.
i'm watching the mr robot season finale for the millionth time and it ties up i think one plot thread and leaves a bunch of others dangling. i'm really curious about s2, anyway.
the world's longest yard sale - it stretches almost 700 miles between alabama and michigan, and it's open for one week out of the year. the article is a meditation on yard sales and how people value stuff they want to sell vs stuff they want to buy - at least as much as it's an article about this massive yard sale - and overall it's pretty interesting.

the curiosity rover finds a floating spoon on mars. ok, technically it's a weird rock formation that looks like a spoon, but still.
scientist paper dolls, including richard feynman, neil degrasse tyson, jane goodall, tesla, grace hopper, and a bunch more. fun and educational! sort of.
for the cotton candy fen in the audience, i bring you a giant cotton candy flower. my teeth hurt just looking at it, and if i ate the whole thing i'd be so fucking sick, but if i were to pass someone making those on the street? i'd have to stop and buy one.
