What I just finished reading:
tales of burning love, which i mostly managed to enjoy (more or less) even tho i didn't like most of the characters most of the time. it's about jack mauser and his four living ex-wives (with occasional mentions of his very first wife, who walked into a spring snowstorm and froze to death), and i liked him only about half the time, and the only ex-wife i liked was the last one. they're self-absorbed, manipulative women, and i couldn't figure out why most of them were ever in love with the guy. so what did i like about it? dot, the last ex-wife, and the language. and i kinda liked jack some of the time.

What I am reading now:
frog music by emma donoghue, because a. historical! (san francisco, 1870s) and b. i liked her slammerkin. it's based on an actual unsolved murder, that of jenny bonnet, who liked to wear men's clothes (which could apparently land you in jail) and who made a living catching frogs for san francisco restaurants. there's the odd bit of french, which means there's a glossary, and a bunch of references to period songs, which means there's really cool endnotes. i'm not too far into it but so far, so good.

What I'm going to read next:
i contributed to a kickstarter for a feminist speculative fiction anthology called sisters of the revolution, and i got my copy a week or so ago, so that. it's got authors i've never heard of, authors i've heard of but never read, and a couple people whose stuff i have read. should be good.

tamalinn is theoretically somewhere in boston right now - one of her friends is getting married on saturday and she's staying with me while she's here - but i don't know where she is or how long until she gets to my house, and i'm hungry but i can't eat until she shows up because that's kind of rude.

i've seen the "small arts" (banners, a divider, that kind of thing) for my bigbang and when i opened the email i may or may not have made a noise of squee so high-pitched only dogs could hear. ahem. i just needed to share.

legographie - photos of lego minifigs out in the world. totally adorable.

if you, like me, are curious about the cars in mad max: fury road, this post has nifty details about the automotive bugnuttery.
