that's the way the bee bumbles

so today marvel announced their phase 3 movies, and thor 3 is subtitled ragnarok, which i assume means all hell breaks loose and loki is responsible. i am very excited. i'm all over thor and loki's relationship, and anything that throws them together is good by me. add jane doing science! and i'm a happy camper. also we're getting solo movies for captain marvel and black panther, and while i'm not familiar with either, i'm also super curious and kind of excited because hey, new superheroes! who aren't white dudes, either. (not that i don't like the white dudes - i mean, come on, have you met me? - but we're due some non-white non-dudes leading our superhero movies.)

i still want a black widow movie. i feel kind of ungrateful, considering what we did get, but come on, marvel, why are you dragging your feet? making her a major - if still supporting - player in other characters' movies ain't gonna cut it. unless scarjo doesn't want to do it, in which case say so.

so that was the fannish part of my afternoon sorted.

last night while i was trying to fall asleep i had yet another idea for my nanonovel - and someone somewhere is going "will you shut up already about nano!" and i will! i promise! just not for another couple days - it would be kind of a sequel to nano 2011, which was about seven-year-old james and part of his giant family, just shifted forward about twelve years to, er, the depression. >.< it's a thought, and it will require some research, but i can talk about class and economic privilege because james comes from money and lots of it, and his boyfriend does not. but i don't know. i still have a couple days to make up my mind.

helen mirren is the new face of l'oreal paris. she wanted her ad campaign pics to be untouched and un-airbrushed, and they are. if i can be even a tiny bit as fabulous as she is, i'll be really happy.

did you know there are states where you can "borrow" a shelter dog to go hiking? apparently it helps them get adopted faster, and it's just good for them to be out and about and being social outside the shelter. and if you can't have a dog but want to spend some quality time with one, you can.

this is just a really nice comic. warnings for motion and slowly strobing lights.

doggie love, helen mirren, mcu, james has a big family, web comics, nanowrimo, thor
