so. flist. i am posting at work because i need to share that on my lunch break i thought i'd go look for shoes for my cousin's wedding which is in two weeks, but i got waylaid by
david's tea (which is apparently a canadian chain) and spent way more money than i expected to, and way more money than i spend on loose leaf tea, partly because i was helped by the CUTEST BOY EVER. seriously, he was fucking adorable. and reminded me more than a little of sebastian stan. partly he kind of looked like him in the face, and partly just the way he talked and how excitable he was. he noticed the tattoo on my arm - my sleeves are really short today - and said he wants to get a tattoo of winnie the pooh with a balloon on his inner arm, because he LOVED winnie the pooh as a kid - had all the books, everything - and oh my god, i was so totally charmed. there was another guy there buying tea who said he'd been in a david's tea in new york, and he was going back to new york tonight (he actually lives in boston) because it's pride weekend and he got a hotel room and there's some underwear party somewhere on christopher street and he was going to surprise his boyfriend with it and they were going to go. and the guy helping me - his name was nate - was all excited. (well, partly because he misunderstood and thought the underwear party was here.) he gave the guy two free-tea cards for himself and his boyfriend. then he's pulling like every canister of tea off the wall so i can smell it and making suggestions about how to drink which kinds, what's good with milk and what has bits you can eat (like some of the ones with fruit have actual small pieces of papaya or whatever, so you don't have to strain everything) and what's good with vodka and one of the flavors has tiny edible gold balls in it - dragees, i think they're called - so your tea kind of glitters. as he was ringing me up he told me that for pride in boston which was apparently two weeks ago they put a sign in the window that said "we steep both ways", and also there were so many cute boys in the store! (he's telling me this and i'm thinking "you are so adorable i cannot stand it. i cannot even with this level of cute.") and for pride he wore zebra-striped platforms all day and he doesn't know how women do it. he must've towered over everyone in the store, because he was not a short guy. he went off to help someone else while i was contemplating what to get, and when he came back he asked me kind of jokingly "so what are you thinking? i can't read your mind", and i said that was a really good thing. (because did i mention he reminded me of sebastian stan? and there's a lot about that boy that is not suitable for conversation with strangers in public places, even very cute and friendly and helpful retail employees.) and i spent like $30 on loose leaf tea which as i said is more than i normally spend at one time on tea. i'm kind of a buy-one-flavor-now-buy-another-flavor-later kind of girl. but it smelled really good and i wanted more non-caffeinated tea to drink late at night. and nate the tea seller was THE CUTEST. in fact all the people working there were adorable. and super friendly. and it took up my entire lunch break, altho that was partly because i had to smell all the tea, and there was a lot of tea to smell.
*breathe*
it was the most fun i've had on my lunch break that didn't involve eating with
gnomi. and now i have watermelon mint tea, and mango fruit punch, and organic blood orange pu'erh. mmmm, tea.
speaking of sebstan, i found
an interview from april in which he says among other things that when he was a kid he wanted to be an astronaut, and he still geeks out over space.
a fighter pilot landed his plane on a stool - the front landing gear didn't come down, and the aircraft carrier was equipped with a kind of stool for just such an emergency. he made this perfect landing. watch the video. it's really cool.
