What I just finished reading:
broken homes, aka rivers of london #4, which i liked altho everything seemed to happen at the very end - like in the last ten pages - all of a sudden it was CLIMAX ALL THE TIME and then a page of denouement and then it was over - and there was a thing that made me go "wha?" (lesley suddenly threw in her lot with the faceless man? and that came up without warning at the veryvery end? really?) (and nightingale was going to teach her and peter how to make wands and... didn't) but i still really like peter and i love his london and this one had a mad architect and what sounds like profoundly irritating architecture and i am all over that. also, toby. :D

What I am reading now:
the graveyard book, by that lovely mr gaiman, which i'm not too far into but am enjoying so far. i like the little world of the graveyard. and it's got illustrations!

What I'm going to read next:
something i already own, unless my sister happens to have something i want to borrow again.

so sebastian stan is going to be on some cw miniseries tomorrow night and no one told me and you are ALL FIRED. i only know because i follow tony curran on twitter and he's in it too. and draco malfoy tom felton, who i expect will play an asshole because he always does.

your evening captain america feels are courtesy of the person on tumblr who pointed out the irony that everyone remembers steve rogers, except for the two people he loves the most.

i met gnomi for lunch today and we talked about, er, bucky's winter soldier hair. >.< and the beard of concealment, and that it's not that he doesn't remember how to take care of himself, it's that he doesn't care. and that i think he has more anger in him than steve - not that i don't think steve has any anger in him, because he does, but bucky is full up with it - and before he learns (or is taught) how to channel that rage, it has nowhere to go except back to him. he has no one and nothing to take it out on - he's not going to lash out at civilians - so his only option is to turn it on himself. (bucky barnes, self-destructive.) but after steve finds him and sort of fits him into the rest of the avengers, maybe he joins a gym or something and does what steve was doing at the beginning of the avengers - hitting the punching bag hard enough to knock it off the ceiling and into the far wall. we decided that if he does cut his hair himself, pepper takes one look at him afterwards and immediately sends him to the barber. because seriously, imagine trying to cut that mop with whatever scissors happen to be lying around the house, without being able to see the back of your head. so it's shorter but not pretty.

i have a hair thing, ok? i have very strong feelings about hair.

also sebastian stan's FUCKING FACE.

ahem.

yeah, not getting over that any time soon. i even have a fic rec! you were standing there, by thebrotherswinchester on ao3. bucky accidentally breaks into the wrong house while drunk. the wrong house happens to belong to steve rogers. a really fabulous au in which bucky is dealing with ptsd, natasha deals with him, and steve lives next door. and also steve and sam are friends. the natasha/bucky friendship is really, really lovely, as is bucky slowly falling in love with steve while denying that's what's happening, because it means feelings and making himself vulnerable and oh by the way, he's got a metal arm and a lot of damage and steve's just being nice to him, right? because steve's that kind of guy. it's not nearly as angsty as it sounds. the updating of movie canon is amazing - the details fit seamlessly into the au. it's the kind of thing i wish i could write. it's the kind of thing i wish i'd actually written. if it sounds like your kind of thing, check it out. it's the first captain america fic i've read outside the occasional random ficlet on tumblr, and i wouldn't rec it if i didn't think it was good.

in totally other news, because i really am capable of thinking about other things, arkansas, oregon, and pennsylvania all overturned their same-sex marriage bans in the past week, effectively legalizing same-sex marriage. exciting!

the story of the civil war slave who stole a confederate steamship. he was the pilot and the white sailors went ashore for the night and left him alone on the ship. bad idea.

here's an interesting article about nuns and medieval art - nuns who made it, nuns who commissioned it - and, well, the sexism of art critics. (sexism when it comes to women making art? i know you're all surprised.)

how nick fury wakes up the avengers and also puts them to bed. very cute. natasha apparently enjoys go the fuck to sleep in russian.

brides seeing their brides for the first time on their wedding day - i love happy couples getting married, what can i say.

a little house in oregon - 875 square feet, so not TINY, but small. and cute! and very open and airy.

what is this ridiculous fixation, the winter soldier, cute boy bad hair, wednesday reading meme, avengers assemble, medieval art, captain america, historical nifty, fanart, sebastian stan, bucky feels, fic recs, gay marriage, tiny houses
