Sorry to hear you can't sleep :/ I have trouble going to sleep if I'm on call or have to get up early the next day. I'm normally a night owl, so the earlier I have to get up, the worst the sleep problem is. It's basically triggered by back-of-my-mind worry that I need to go to sleep soon if I am to get enough rest, and naturally, it gets worse the longer I'm awake. Benadryl doesn't help. I have lorazepam for fear of flying, and it helps to go to sleep by getting my brain out of the anxious loop, but it's prescription and addictive, so I don't use it unless absolutely necessary. Of course, after three hours in an anxious loop, I'm convinced that 1mg of lorazepam will turn me into a junkie right there ( ... )

i should possibly have mentioned that this is totally research for a fic. if i can't sleep, it's usually because i had caffeine too late. >.< and in that case there's nothing i can do but watch tv until the caffeine high passes. but if i have a character with intermittent insomnia, what's going to trigger it? (because he knows better than to drink coffee after, like, three.) and once it hits, how does he manage to put himself to sleep?

>>because the stupidest, most embarrassing crap comes out on sleep deprivation.<<

oh god yes. altho i also occasionally find everything just HYSTERICALLY FUNNY. even stuff that isn't that funny will make me practically pee myself laughing.

Ah, that's good, I'm happy to hear that :D Well, there you go, anxiety is one thing at least, but you are probably looking for a more serious case, so I can't help much, sorry. (We all know that Tyler Durden is what actually triggers insomnia.)

*snickers* No no. Googling for your answer made me feel good.

I have to do stuff like this at work with the students. And then you do this and let's try that, and the VDI's will take forever to find and then save to your flash drive so do you have a gmail account? Open your gmail through Chrome. Save your Power Point then attach it to an email to yourself or just save it as a draft on the email.
There's not enough memory in the district for all the VDIs on the 2 servers Library dedicated so when things get crowded, the memory erases somethings. A lot of somethings.

I go through insomniac phases sometimes, and for me it's usually triggered by severe anxiety, but not always. Sometimes there's no reason for it at all. And I just... can't sleep. My brain gets into an endless loop of non-stop worry about stupid things, and no matter how tired I thought I was, nothing will turn it off. I construct long, elaborate fights in my head with people who I have no real reason to be angry about and go through them a hundred times and for some reason my brain thinks this is the MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER. It's all stupid stuff ( ... )

I'm not help on the gifs, but I do get insomnia fairly frequently. Mine is related to two things; high levels of stress and my period being about to start. If I'm stressed I always know I'll have at least one night of crappy-crap sleep (frequently more like four or five nights). When I say crappy=crap sleep, I mean tossing and turning, never getting comfortable in bed, my brain going on endless loops, and/or just staring at the ceiling unable to keep my eyes closed. Generally, I can mitigate the stress-induced insomnia by exercising more than usual (usually yoga or swimming or something similarly relaxing), and, as strange as it sounds, having a drink with dinner. But I'm careful to have no more than ONE drink because anymore and it counteracts the relaxation efforts and I just end up with a headache and angry-drunk thoughts in bed. As for the pre-period related insomnia, nothing to be done there but wait it out until my period starts and my hormone levels alter ( ... )

it seems wrong to say that your bad sleep and brain weasels are helpful, but yes!
