thanks to everyone for the v-gifts and messages and, er, facebook good wishes! (i think there are like two people who wished me a happy on facebook who are on lj, so i can thank you here. :D ) apparently i share a birthday with terry gilliam and mark ruffalo and mads mikkelsen. that's some good company, i have to say.
also, cs lewis died fifty years ago. i think his death might've been a bit overshadowed at the time.
coworker d took me out for lunch (i had a tuna melt, since it was that kind of day) and one of the admins baked me a cake! which i then had to share with everyone - i mean, i kept asking everyone who walked by my desk if they wanted some cake, until i wised up and just took it into the cafe. and there the locusts took care of it. :D
work-wise it was pretty slow, and i still have no idea if i'll ever get to be full-time employed at this place - the guy who is apparently the decision maker has been at a conference all week and the office manager won't get to talk to him (and thus have an answer for me) until monday. sigh.
and now i'm watching haven and trying to form an opinion and occasionally rolling my eyes. i'm not overall in love with this season - altho there are some things i definitely like - well, maybe one - ok, two - but man, i am having the hardest time articulating all the things i don't like. it's a lot of vague dissatisfaction mixed with an annoying tendency to mumble "the early seasons were so much better...." because possibly i turned into that kind of fan. >.<
i like william, or maybe i should say i like how his introduction to the story messed everything around. what's the sparky connection to audrey? did they really start the troubles? how? why? does he have some connection to agent howard? since howard is connected to the barn and thus audrey. what does he want in haven now?
also i like gloria. i mean, i really like gloria. she's snarky.
ok, now haven is over and i'm trying to find something else to watch while i decide whether or not i want to watch the second showing.
if you have a spare $200 you can adopt a skull and help a museum keep its collection. seriously. the mutter museum in philly needs your help. the skulls need your help.
1918 typewriter with multiple font choices - you could type in turkish! or cyrillic! or italics! or different latin fonts! how cool is that?
