i didn't have to bring home a ton of eggs, either

Oct 27, 2013 01:54

tonight my sister had a potluck dinner and game night, for which i made deviled eggs (half with creamy dill mustard that i found in my pantry and half with sweet pickle relish because i don't like mustard, and all with probably slightly too little mayo) and for which there was way too much food. one of her friends brought cards against humanity, ( Read more... )

candy, teevee, halloween, fun with my sister

LOVE the Elementary one! And the True Blood one is perfect, too!

joan has the most expressive "i am so done with your bullshit" eyeroll. and i got to the true blood one and thought "pam, honey, i am right there with you". and i gave up after s2.

Ha, I only ever watched four of the shows in the picture set and I was still amused.

the friend said she and her boyfriend had taken out some of the really offensive cards which just made me think about watching people play it at wincon last year when offensiveness seemed to be the whole point.

I feel sure you are 100 percent correct. Also the eggs sound delicious. :)

the eggs were good! people didn't eat a lot of them during the party because there was so much food, but someone took some home and my sister kept some, so i only had two left over. which was good. except now i have a jar of mustard in my fridge that i will probably never finish. >.<

i have a feeling that any time you get a bunch of winconners together for games, offensiveness is always the point. i mean, so many of us are giant pervs. :D

Lol, that's what sisters are for, and clearly you are a top-notch sis, since you let her vent as much as she had too. Hope she's just as good a 'listener' as you are.

Loved the gifs, particularly the first one. Damsel in distress Crane, slightly blushed with a Strackbuck's cafe latte. Be still my heart.

*confused face* What's candy corn? I know pop corn, but the pics all suggests it's something tri-coloured & wedge shaped? American food is still a mistery to me.

i'm standing there in her apartment WITH MY COAT ON, i mean i was READY TO GO HOME, and she vented at me for like an hour anyway. sometimes i am a good sister, by which i mean i am a patient sister. and sometimes i keep score because seriously! i wanted to go home! and i'd heard some of her vent before!

i love ichabod the damsel in distress. especially with his big starbucks latte, hee. and abbie will come to save the day! and he kind of admires her for that!

candy corn is hard little triangles of corn syrup, basically, striped orange, yellow, and white. it mostly tastes sweet the way that stuff sweetened with high fructose corn syrup tastes sweet. (it's a slightly different kind of sweet than sugar sweet.) it's the kind of thing you can't really eat too much of without getting kind of sick. there's also indian corn, which is the same thing except the tip is brown and sort of chocolate-flavored, which i like better.

re: candy corn, is that just a halloween/thanksgiving thing or all year round?

i think you can get it all year, but you really see a lot of it around halloween. i know the indian corn is seasonal, at least.

surprisingly, yes! i don't think they took out that many cards - i still got "dead babies", which i would've thought would be offensive.
