oy, work, must you put me to sleep?

today i had a work thing - event - whatever, which was basically all the new england offices (there are four) gathering in a conference room in a hotel for the "this is what we did last year, this is what we have planned for this year" speeches and panels. it was BORING. OH GOD SO BORING. mostly because i don't think most of it applies to me. also i took the stupid way to get there and got stuck behind traffic and so was like twenty minutes late, and then they didn't have a name tag for me! (someone just wrote one out.) i decided that it it was probably because i'm still contract and technically still work for the temp agency. but whatever, it's not like anyone asked for my qualifications at the door or anything. but the most important thing? it ran from one to four, which meant it started around lunch time, and because it was west of the city everyone had to spend their lunch hours getting there, which means a lot of people were no doubt hungry, and THEY DIDN'T FEED US UNTIL IT WAS OVER. (yes, this was worse than the fact that it was boring.) so when it was over, after all the "this is what we have planned for next year" and the awards (including "most fun to work with" and "best dressed", which was won by a guy) and the random group exercise (each table had to come up with some qualities and actions to fit a word on the table - my table's word was "leadership") and everything, i had some food and talked to a couple of auditors, and then braved rush hour and came home. and now i need a nap. >.< except writing group is in like fifteen minutes and i think maybe i should go, considering i couldn't go to the last two meetings.

(today's writing group writing exercise is actually going to be a check-in, where we discuss what we've written in the past two weeks. i have written nothing, but i have thought about the friar and the heretic, and a little bit about the pirates.) (which kinda counts, i think.)

on the plus side, i got to work from home so i could drive out to the boondocks for this event thing, because it is utterly inaccessible by public transportation, which i'd be taking if i actually went to the office first. so i didn't have to get dressed until noon, and i could eat breakfast twice. :D and watch the end of the 8:00 buffy rerun, now that f/x has started rerunning buffy in the morning. it was the one where the swim team turns into fish, and xander gets infected. "you were only exposed once. ...twice?" "three times a fish guy." heh.

i really hope criminal minds doesn't premiere tonight. i like being able to watch season premieres live.
