i didn't see that coming
i get to be trained on something new at work because a. the woman who does it now apparently doesn't want to, and b. i think the office manager is looking for ways for me to stay on permanently. so yay. :D it's the kind of thing that when a request comes through i have to drop everything and take care of it, but if i'm super busy and can't, there's someone to pick up my slack.
still working through edits on my bigbang. >.< i'll be fixing it up until i actually post. i can't wait to be done with it, and at the same time i know i won't have any idea what to do with myself afterwards.
well, that's not true. i have the friar and the heretic to write about next, and historical facts to use, abuse, or ignore as it suits my purposes. i admit i'm kind of looking forward to not having to do a lot of research. (because i do not plan to make this one strictly historically accurate.) someday i'll write something contemporary. maybe.
tonight i saw red 2 with my sister, and while i definitely enjoyed it (i mean, come on, helen mirren as an assassin, there's no bad there) and it has the same sense of humor as the first one, i liked the first one better in terms of plot. red 2 is just ridiculously plotted, and not exactly in a good way. but it's fun and entertaining and i liked all the actors, so.
we got a preview for ender's game, and because i said "oh, i know what this is!" about thirty seconds in, my sister asked me if i'd ever read the book, and i said no, and then i had to tell her about orson scott card's card-carrying homophobia and anti-same-sex-marriage donations, and that there was now a backlash against the movie because of it, and she rolled her eyes at how he's calling for tolerance of his intolerance. if i didn't know anything about osc i might be interested in the movie.
i caught a star wars reference in alif the unseen, which cracked me up. i'm thoroughly enjoying the book, and not just because of the random pop culture references.
