this is apparently what the big bang sounded like. it's like a really bass-heavy ringing. ish. sort of. i love that the universe makes noise, and that people can actually reproduce some of it.

in which mark ruffalo learns about science bros and giggles with delight. he loves it, it's awesome, he's totally behind it, and now he wants to share it with rdj. he is THE CUTEST.

new zealand parliament legalizes same-sex marriage, spectators in the gallery burst into song. they're singing a maori love song. 'scuse me, i think i have something in my eye.

stephen colbert has a few things to say about the boston marathon bombing, namely that bostonians are a pretty resilient bunch. come on, the place was founded by people so tough they had to buckle their hats on. dear mr colbert: marry me? :D

and in related news, last night the yankees played sweet caroline during the game, in tribute. (it's kind of a red sox song - they play it at fenway all the time. the sox and the yankees are huge rivals (like, boston is full of "yankees suck" bumperstickers) so for the yankees to do that, and for the crowd to sing along, is pretty sweet.)

and in even more related news, here are two iraqi boys holding a sign that says "we mourn with boston", which is really sweet but also kind of sad, as these two kids probably have waaaaaaay more experience with random street explosions than kids here.

dad supports his son's desire for an animated sofia the first dvd after a rude moron is, well, rude, and the little old lady behind them in line supports dad's support. go dad.

and finally, have a gif of a sloth smothering a cat with love.

did anyone besides me watch defiance on monday? it's basically a land-bound scifi western (as opposed to a space-bound scifi western, a la firefly) with an assortment of aliens, some interesting plot developments, some boring cliche plot developments, and tony curran with terrible hair. (seriously, tho, all the wigs on this show are pretty bad, by which i mean they're all pretty clearly wigs.) but it's actual science fiction tv on what is nominally a science fiction tv channel, and i like it so far. and it's not on against anything else i want to watch. :D (hannibal, i am SO looking at you.)

supportive parenting, stephen colbert, avengers assemble, outer space, boston marathon, link soup, gay marriage, mark ruffalo, defiance
