just the fact that it can even claim to be that old - whether or not it actually is - kind of boggles my mind.

hee, yeah. (altho if you go west, like to la or san francisco, "old" is, like, eighty years.) the oldest timber-frame house in the us is in massachussets, and - i had to look this up to be sure of the date - it's from 1637. and it's a house museum now. we can probably give you guys a run for your money with native american dwellings, but so few of them have actually survived.

*raises hand to Schoolhouse Rock news* Woohoo, I always *loved* it, and yes, I ended up singing a lot of stuff, at least in my head! Yay to arc reactor ring holders, and somehow, I'm not surprised about the ancient restaurant--sometimes, you just get tired of your own cooking, or other people do, or you want to try that new thing called "cake" the next-door neighbor was raving about^^
Ooh, you had sunshine? Enjoy!^^ (hah, it's fine we had rain; we always seem to need some, here, and the roses, crazy things, are blooming happily!)

the arc reactor ring holder is SO COOL. i'm going to assume the guy's girlfriend said yes.

*raises hand* I loved Schoolhouse Rock so much and definitely learned things from it.

I want to see Lincoln, to check out the local stuff if nothing else (it was filmed around here with the DC stuff being in the VA state capital area), but I'm probably going to end up waiting for it to show up in Redbox.

there's a MASSIVE list of places and i guess research sources at the end of the credits - seriously, it goes on forever - it scrolled too fast for me to read most of it but i'd imagine you'll recognize places on screen anyway. (the movie looks really good, too. you live in a scenic part of the country. :D ) i highly recommend it, altho apparently there's some, er, poetic license taken with some of the history.

i'd hazard a guess that pretty much our entire generation (or at least the segments that were allowed to watch saturday morning cartoons) learned something from schoolhouse rock. fun and educational!

Oooh! May I ask what you want to write for the BB2013 that requires research? I'm intrigued! Also, I love talking about the Big Bang.

*looks left* *looks right* american folklore and legends. less with the angels and demons and biblical monsters, more with the robert johnsons and women in white and ghosts of hh holmes. but i don't know enough genuinely dangerous new world type creatures. so, research! besides, if i didn't have to look something up, i wouldn't be me. :D

Oooh, that sounds awesome! I'm really not a fan of the biblical monsters either. I know that South and Central America have plenty of creepy, dangerous, fantastic monsters, but I don't know about North America.
