random things i keep forgetting to mention
my boss is on vacation this week and today i'm alone in the office and i am getting things done (tm). go me.
if you wait until the very end of the credits for the dark knight rises (and ignore the usher telling the few people left in the audience that there aren't any scenes at the end, we don't have to stay) (he was probably used to cleaning theaters after the avengers), you get a little note that the movie was shot and edited on film. no digital for mr nolan.... (and i could've told you it was shot on film and not digital because partway thru the showing i went to, there was some fuckery with the projection. like, we suddenly got a strip of bright blue with what looked a bit like film spool holes (like you have on either side of a strip of film negatives) down the side of the picture, and the whole movie slid slightly off the other side of the screen.)
last night the early news - after the live olympics broadcast but before the taped primetime olympics broadcast - had a spoiler cut before doing the events results. the newscasters both announced that they were going to give the results, and this was their spoiler warning, and there was even a SPOILER WARNING! graphic before the sports guy warned for spoilers (again) and suggested that if people didn't want to know the results of the day's events yet, they should change the channel. i thought that was really cute, personally. spoiler cuts on tv! hee.
beth riesgraf shot a short film (it's seven minutes long) that is pretty and also pretty odd. a standard story. you may or may not recognize a couple of the actors. :D (hint: one of them is peter stormare, who will always be lucifer to me. he and tilda swinton were the best things in constantine.)
