you know how in june i had to take a day a week of unpaid leave at work? in july i have to take two days a week of unpaid leave. which of course i learn when it is waaaaaay too late to find part-time anything to make up the slack. so guess what i'm going to start doing this month! (if you guessed "realize how ill-equipped i am to look for another job", you guessed correctly. do you know how long it's been since i had to write a cover letter or a resume?)
so if you happen to know anyone who needs (or will soon need) an admin/office assistant, especially in the greater boston area, let me know.
in more cheerful news, i have ideas for stories, so at least i have something to do during my forced days off, besides try not to spend any money. for a brief period this afternoon i even thought i could write harley and corbin (aka the boys with the big house) as a ya novel, even tho i've never intentionally written ya anything in my life. but it made sense at the time.
it has taken me literally hours to type three paragraphs and copy-paste a poem. i really have to get a handle on this tv-as-distraction thing.
have a poem.
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking,
I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
