happy birthday, canada! imagine this cupcake has a little fondant maple leaf on top. :D
my cousin who lives in atlanta is in town with her husband - they were in new york visiting the husband's cousin, and figured hey, let's go to boston and see the other side of the family! - so yesterday i went downtown to meet them (and my parental unit) at their hotel and then my sister met us for dinner. i really like this cousin and i never get to see her, and when she asked me yesterday if i'd been anywhere interesting recently, i told her about new orleans which led to me explaining
wincon in mostly general terms. (ie, i said "there are panels about this kind of show or that movie", but not "and we talk about fanfic and art and vids and which characters are boinking which other characters and in what positions". because i know my audience and my audience included my mom.) i referred to it as a slumber party with a hundred of your closest friends, which my cousin thought was cute. she seemed kind of intrigued and interested in the whole idea, which was pretty cool.
and tonight my parents had them and my cousin with the four kids over for dinner, so all us cousins could see each other, and i contributed this
cinnamon walnut zucchini bread that
charisstoma posted about, which went over well which was really encouraging, since i'd never made it before. it made my kitchen smell like cinnamon. but i have to say, grating two cups of zucchini with a cheese grater is not the most fun i've had with my clothes on. SO messy. even if the resultant zucchini bread was good.
i need to go to bed but i'm watching a leverage rerun because eliot and hardison are just that cute. i mean, who needs sleep, anyway?
