because one wright building deserves another. :D the frederick c robie house is right near the university of chicago and was designed and built between 1908-1910 (altho it wasn't completely finished when the robies moved in) and is considered one of the finest examples of wright's prairie style. i think it's the most famous, anyway. it has a ( Read more... )

i actually quite like them as homes. (except for the tendency to leak.) i was in the hollyhock house in la over december, and that was pretty light and bright. granted, it's always sunny in la and it was built ten years after the robie house, but it's not all dark and dim inside. neither is fallingwater, if i remember right. altho fallingwater does have that giant rock smack in the middle of the living room floor....

i like richardson too - the romanesque influence is pretty nifty - but his buildings are kind of heavy-looking. which is cool if you like that kind of thing.
