CORNWALL. Watch "Blue Juice", bro. It has Sean Pertwee in it. We have our own surf movies and everything.

how cool! i guess it's possible that any island country could produce surf worth surfing on. but isn't the water off the cornish coast really cold?

(is sean pertwee the one who played the doctor, or his son?)

Any island near a large ocean. ;) It is indeed facking freezin', which is why UK surfing has a lot to do with your stamina and resistance to cold water and FREEZING WINDS than to do with your ability to tame huge wave (our waves: smaller! But more eagerly anticipated).

His son. Jon is alas long-dead... Sean is the blue-eyed fella from Dog Soldiers.

I was going to suggest Blue Juice too, but I watched it because Ewan McGregor is in it. Catherine Zeta-Jones is the girl.

I think the formula is that east of the eye is more rain and west of the eye is more wind, but I may have that backwards. I'm going to lay in more batteries and perhaps an additional flashlight or two, but that's about it. It's supposed to sock the Berkshires at this point, I think

i unearthed a couple flashlights in my packing, altho only one of them actually works. i don't care what it does as long as it doesn't rain next tuesday when i have to move. or when the folks who bought my furniture come to get it....

It's backwards, 'cause hurricanes spin counterclockwise. For a strike from the south on a east-west oriented coast, there's more wind to the east because you have spin + forward momentum.

my brother-in-law, Simon, surfs. I'm told that yes, it's quite bracing.
