it was snowing earlier. it has apparently stopped, and is now raining. hmph.
hubble space telescope 2009 advent calendar - if i knew about this to share it on dec 1, you'd have gotten a pic a day leading up to christmas. you don't get the advent calendar experience now that the twenty-five days are over, but you do get a lot of really fabulous photos of outer space.
to infinity... and beyond! - hamsters! in! spaaaaace! ie, what happens when a hamster's wheel spins faster than his little feet do. check out the speedometer on that thing.
i have possibly taken leave of my senses (shut up) and have been given charge of findyourwords. this means if you want to set a goal for how many words you want to write in 2010, there's (still!) a comm for you. :D the minimum pledge is 35k for the year, spread over as many projects as you want, and yes there will be weekly status posts so you can either share your accomplishment or wallow in your shame. *ahem* the actual signup post isn't up yet (but soon! i promise!) but signups don't close until the end of january, so you have some time to think about whether or not you want to do it. being held publicly accountable for your wordcount or lack thereof is a powerful enticement, i have to say. it's the only reason i wrote as much as i did.

last night's cm reruns were mayhem (aka "panic on the streets of nyc"), masterpiece (aka "spencer never has any normal fans" and "in which colonel sanders kills people"), and 52 pickup (aka "do those lines really work?" and also "spencer meets a bartender"). the thing i really like about masterpiece, aside from the lightbulb moment (and man, i am such a sucker for a good lightbulb moment), is that colonel sanders the unsub spends the entire episode belittling rossi for his apparent lack of intelligence, and yet he's totally outsmarted by uncle dave. this is because uncle dave is awesome. :D and not dumb. there's also some really excellent thinky!spencer, which is one of my favorite flavors of spencer, and his failed attempt at an erudite philosophy joke. so cute and so socially inept.... the social ineptness is also one of the things i love about 52 pickup, altho really that episode belongs to prentiss and todd. todd never really meshed with the rest of the team (which i think is understandable) and i could never work up any strong feelings about her, but i really like her in this episode. she totally rises to the occasion, and she and prentiss sort of kind of striking up a beginning coworker friendship is sweet.
(and also masterpiece has some kevin/garcia banter, and as much as morgan/garcia is my rock-solid otp - i mean, come on, "you are my god-given solace", you think morgan has ever told anyone that before? ever? - i love me some kevin/garcia. so geeky and adorable. and they shower together and have adult fun with foodstuffs.)
