i have a chocolate-covered marshmallow santa and you don't. :D unless you do, in which case i hope you enjoy yours as much as i'm going to enjoy mine.
fic roundup for the scattershot month of november is one unfinished nanonovel of about 10,700 words. the lesson i've learned from nano this year is that i have to do the whole thing in an official kinda way or i can't do it at all. i need a goal imposed upon me from an outside source. i can't set a goal myself without any kind of outside accountability because i won't make it. i feel like i should apologize to the three people who were reading it for a. not keeping up with it, and b. not finishing it. (and c. not getting around to introducing the fbi.) i might come back to it next year, tho. and i did like the story and the characters and the fact i set it in boston, which is something. and stuff happened, which is also something. in that sense i think it's a better effort than last year's, even tho i couldn't finish it. (well, i didn't finish last year's either, not in a completed-story sense.... but i did hit 50k words.)
the next project might be the bigbang. eek. i have an idea for the structure, anyway, and while i'm not convinced it will be any good, i do have an external deadline, which is helpful. i just need to, you know, plot it out.
has anyone ever used
scrivener or a program like it? was it helpful?
last night i watched kiss kiss bang bang and wow, rdj looks old. O.O really fun movie, tho - funny and ridiculous and kind of spoofily noir and it had some touching and dramatic scenes that fit nicely and i laughed out loud in a few places and rdj was kind of adorable and val kilmer makes a pretty good gay guy and really, what more can you ask of a movie? and someone does in fact pee on a corpse - by accident - and i'm still giggling about it the next day. what? pee is funny.
