the painter in the painter and the curator 'verse is still annoyingly named mike, which i like less and less. argh. this morning i wanted to call him jimmy, but his last name is donnelly and... no. (those of you who watched the black donnellys know what i'm talking about.) (i liked jimmy donnelly, but still. he wasn't the brightest bulb and he was a drug addict and my painter doesn't look like thomas guiry and just no.) thanks for the name suggestions, tho. i'll figure something out eventually.
on the plus side, rabbit and robard the moonshine boys now have a last name - ellecott - and an older sister named vashti, because their mom is odd. this is what she took from the book of esther - that vashti had more pride in herself and more dignity than to submit to just being her husband's ornament and entertainment. (mama ellecott is committed to the idea that a woman's worth doesn't just reflect on her husband. after all, the man doesn't bear and breastfeed all those babies, and women are useful long after they're young and pretty.) and also she liked the name. vashti ellecott is married to a guy named gage and so far only has one kid which upsets her greatly. she has a really hard time getting and staying pregnant and she doesn't think it's fair that her mom had at least five that survived (there might be six ellecott kids, i'm not sure, and probably there were a couple babies that either miscarried or died really young) and she had such a difficult time with one.
sadly there is no story for the moonshine boys, but i do know that when they make deliveries, someone always stays with the truck in case the feds show up, so at least one of the boys is always going to be able to escape. usually this is rabbit, because the truck is his baby and he's a better and faster (and, er, more reckless) driver than robard. i still have lots of research to do for this one.
i'm in an up mood today. sun's out, i got tangerines, today's friday, it's all good.
