hi kids, i'm home! no one watered my plants, did they?
plants: *are parched*
guess not.
anyway.
i drove down to
tygerseye and
betra's house on friday without a map and did not get lost (yay) altho i did end up taking route 1 the long way.... ie, the business route instead of the express. right road, right direction, wrong place. >.< oh well. i said hi to
byrne and
ragingpixie and m (jean and beth's kiddo) when i got there, and we all went to bed.
traveling is exhausting, ok?
saturday we ran errands and set up and prayed for sun and drooled discreetly at the adorable and very nice guy jean hired to help out, and it didn't rain and the food was yummy (and holy cow there was a lot of it O.O ) and jean and beth's friends are really nice and i got to hang out with
klgaffney and w and the doom!twins and mouse, and can i just say, the girls are really cute and polite and spent pretty much the entire party babysitting m. so, so cute. ^_^ the dj played some good music and did i mention it didn't rain? and some people stayed until late and it was a really nice party. good times, good times. :D
ragingpixie and i bonded over the cake, which was moist and delicious and covered with buttercream. oh mommy.
and then sunday i drove home in the rain. i called the weather in boston and it said "drenching thunderstorms" and i went >.< and then couldn't find out whether or not the police show had been canceled. (altho i imagine they wouldn't have known at noon anyway.) i drove through some lovely thunderstorms in nj, the kind where people stop under an overpass to wait it out, and then i'm shaggin' ass through connecticut - after the traffic let up, jesus - actually praying for the show to be rained out so i don't miss half of it. by the time i got to boston the sky was clearing and i managed to miss the opening act (which was ok) and got there just as the police were starting the first song, which i think was walking on the moon.
sting looks pretty damn good for his age, let me tell you. they sounded amazing, they played everything i wanted to hear (except fortress around your heart and canary in a coal mine), and at one point the entire stadium was singing along to every little thing she does is magic, and sting stopped singing and just kind of smiled at us and let us do it. the woman next to me called someone on her cell phone and held up the phone towards the stage, and after a couple of minutes said "could you hear that?" into it. hee. my seats were pretty good - i was near first base - but i think the only people with a decent view of the stage were the folks standing on the field. but they had these huge screens behind the stage, so you could see the guys playing and running around and y'know, guitarist hands on the big screen? there is no bad there. andy summers is looking kind of old and puffy, but man, can he still play. he looked like he was having a good time, too. it was totally worth the spaz of getting there.
so that was my weekend. how y'all doin'? did i miss anything interesting? reports and/or photos of jared and jensen from san diego gratefully accepted. :D
