Dole-ing out some pineapple - cherry style

Jul 19, 2009 22:05

The schedule didn't work so well this week, unfortunately. I had interruptions today and Thursday so I tried to shuffle some stuff around, a bit unsuccessfully. But I successfully had fun Thursday and today at least?

Colin & Brad were in town for Just for Laughs (I wonder where they're going after tonight), and they had discounted tickets, so of course I totally went (on Thursday). 2 hours of great awesomeness. I so ♥ Colin so much. (Purple!) Oh, and yes, Penetanguishene exists, and in Ontario too. I thought the show styles thingie wasn't as great, but the lines weren't bad. Their song at the end was sweet, hee. And their last "act" was painful to watch, but oh Colin made it great. He got fairly hurt while trying to get Brad, but probably worth it. I would totally see them again. *insert fangirl here*

I fixed most of my shirts but didn't hem any pants. That'll have to wait for this week. I spun another once of roving? Man I'm so close and yet so far away from finishing this roving. I was gonna knit a shawl with it, or a short lace scarf, but I don't have the patience for it, and I don't think I'm gonna like this yarn enough. But we'll see after I ply and finish the yarn. Eucalan does wonders. (And yes, I know I have to take pics.)

I finished watching Pushing Daisies and now I'm on Chuck. I've also stalled on Bokura Ga Ita because I didn't really knit. I still haven't watched CoE (aaaaahhh) but I will soon. I think. I need to stream it somewhere online...

Today, we (finally) went cherry picking!! And in a fairly large group too, 8 of us. We split into two groups, and it was really fairly hard to find good cherries, but we managed it eventually. Some are not as firm as I'd like, and I really wish we had found another white cherry tree, but I think I'm very happy with our catch. Of course, then we left the cherries in the car for like 9 hours, so they got even less firm, heh, but a few hours in the fridge and they should be okay.

I'm glad Ian came with us because he totally made the hiking trail more worthwhile. We went to the Ball's Falls Conservation Area and did a tiny bit of hiking. Except the trail was really more like a nature walk. So we walked off the trail and followed the stream from the waterfall. The rocks were more jagged and slippery the closer we got to the falls, but of course that's what makes it exciting, lol. Ian was like, whoo hoo water, and went barefoot. So eventually Sage and I joined him. And then Chris. And then Ji got his shoes wet so he joined us too. It was pretty funny, Ian found a large stick in the water, so Ji tied his shoes to the stick (instead of to his belt loops like the rest of us), but then he dropped the stick 3 times and got his shoes really wet. Chris dropped a shoe too, lol, but Sage and I, we made it. The rest of them went rubber-soled, and Liz tried to make it all the way without getting in the water, but her foot slipped once. Oh well. When we got to the falls, there was a big rock that we wanted to get on, but there was a girl modelling under the falls, so we had to wait. But the group took a group picture of us on my camera so I guess it was worth it? Heehee. Man my shoes are wet still (I went under the falls to help some of them off the rock); I'm glad my parents don't know, heh. I'll post some pics later when I upload them. Man I love being by running water so much.

There's a great little ice cream parlour - Toute Sweet Ice Cream and Chocolate - that has some nice ice cream/ice flavours and you get to add a topping. I had their raspberry ice with pineapple (and strawberry) chunks, and that was so yummy. Of course Liz has her first choice, my second choice - dark chocolate ice cream with raspberry (and strawberry). The have a nice sitting area out back too, and with today's barely sunny weather it was quite perfect. (A degree or two warmer would've been good too.) We debated coming over to my place to play board games, but tomorrow being Monday people couldn't stay out late, so board games for later? Liz is all, waah I wanna play Agricola again, and I'd like to play something with Ian since we never have before. Oh well.

This coming week: finish sorting odd balls of yarn (very hopefully), finish green shrug, finish spinning purple singles (unlikely unless I take time out of some other craft), upload hiking pics, order books and beads

Oh, and stop torturing myself by looking at things I can't buy (but they're so pretty!!).
