busy day ahead

We had a semi busy weekend in the Casa de Student. The husband spent most of the time checking on the attempts to grow grass in our backyard (its mostly rocks with a thin layer of crappy dirt that four largish dogs run over constantly). When he wasn't fussing over the grass, or fixing the deck, he was busy with his girlfriend, Eve. Eve is an online multiplayer game much like WoW only set in space. The unhusband has briefly traded his girlfriend WoW, for an Xbox game called Mass Effect which has pulled Troll 1 over to the dark side. The other trolls have had a pretty quiet weekend. Let me amend that... Troll 4 now has a doctor's appointment for an ear infection this morning. She's been miserable since Saturday night (So, chibi_masshuu it was probably a good thing that we didn't get the chance to meet up this weekend, with that being said, keep your calendar open next Sunday).

Me, I did something that a few years ago, I never would have considered doing. I paid to get beat up as well as beat someone up. I took my first (and definitely not my last) Krav Maga lesson. During my time as a grad student, I spent way too much time sitting in front of a computer or with a book in my hand. I didn't spend nearly enough time eating right and exercising. And to be perfectly honest, I am not happy with how much I weigh and how I look now. When we lived in Germany, I worked out everyday. When we lived in Arizona, I maintained a healthy lifestyle. For the past two years, I ate when I could and whatever was handy. Now that I have a chance to breathe on a regular basis, I not only need but want to eat healthier and be healthier.

In this quest for a more natural lifestyle, I have a preliminary garden patch planned. I don't have anything planted because I need to buy a few more containers since my planter boxes were taken over for flowers. I am even going to attempt to grow some tomatoes. I have baking my own bread as well as my own pasta. I know, not the healthiest of foods, but foods where I can control what goes into them. And I am going to try and get the unhusband to make Tabouli salad again-cracked wheat, lemon, garlic...Mmmmm. And some more hummus....

Well, I need to head off and get cleaned up. I have too much to do today: Pick a friend up from the airport, take Troll 4 to the doctor, talk to the gym about adding the unhusband to the account. The husband unit works out four days a week on the base because well, he has to.  The unhusband has not really worked out since getting out of the military. He is looking at trying out something a little less aggressive than Krav Maga. He wants something that will center him... and the gym also offers Tai Chi. So, like I said, a busy day ahead.
