Part Seven - Lets go watch meteor shower
Funny how sometimes your world manages to turn upside down in a single night. The rain that washes away your tears is not warm, not comforting but rather cold and teasing.
Or maybe that’s how everything seems when our Technicolor hearts are shattered to lay as glinting pieces in a black and white world.
Delicate feelings, fragile emotions…how will it all end?
I’ve been telling you this that the future is in my hand…
Jin moved as quickly as his legs could carry him, eyes on his GPS device. Moving through a labyrinth of deserted streets, coming across a wolf or two (which were successfully taken care of by the two warriors at his heels) before coming to a screeching halt at the most shocking sight he had ever seen. (Yamada and Taiyou came crashing into him and fell backwards immediately, while he did the least but jerk forwards slightly).
Those two recovered quickly as they realized what they’re senpai was staring at. Behind them, Massu arrived with the group of civilians under his care. On the opposite side, the KURO team had arrived as well, together with Kame, Pi and Tegoshi.
“This can’t be happening,” Inoo gasped as Ryutaro rushed to stand next to Yamada, both boys exchanging worried looks.
Yabu and Hikaru were still facing each other, guns pointed at each others’ chests. Misery had somehow morphed into anger and the eyes that bore into each other seemed cold, lifeless...dangerous.
“This is it then,” Kame sighed sadly. Jin had spotted them and turned his gaze away as fast as possible.
“We finally reach the battle field,” Yamapi added frowning. Both sides drew their weapons.
“Yamette kudasai!” Inoo yelled out loud as Koyama held him from pouncing into their midst. Reon looked at his older brother who looked completely drained and helpless, and held back oncoming tears.
“I can’t watch them suffer any more,” he said sadly. Little Shintaro hugged him.
“Ryu take them away from here,” Yamada ordered sternly. Ryutaro gave him an almost desperate look. Getting no reply he shuffled away heavily to reach his group. Inoo was refusing to budge. Just then a subtle light made them look at the members of SHIRO in surprise. It was coming from within their bodies.
“Let’s begin.”
*
There was a commotion in the SHIRO headquarters. The alarms had been raised. With Yamapi’s departure, the hostages had been released. However, the ‘abandon building’ alert shone red through all hallways.
“What about Shiro-san?” asked one scientist as he and his partner left the vicinity in their vehicle.
“She probably left before us, let’s get out of here quick!”
Tsu pulled her knees closer to her body and buried her face. Her grandfather’s words echoed in her consciousness.
“The power of nature is beyond our control.”
The glow was intensifying. The heat was making her eyes water.
“The only way to stop this…is to destroy the stimulant…but then…what about this energy?”
*
It was more than a shock for members of KURO. They knew, but they never expected for things to get so much out of control.
With a yell Daiki found himself tumbling onto the ground, Yuto and Chinen landing painfully on top of him. Takaki was slammed into a nearby wall. All four stared with terrified eyes at Yamada. He was hovering slightly above the ground, his eyes flashing dangerously.
Takaki got onto his feet again. The others followed suit.
Massu pinned Tegoshi against a wall and held him down as Jin battled Kame and Pi.
“You’re an airhead Bakanishi you know that?” Pi yelled throwing a punch which caught Jin off guard.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” Jin exclaimed irritated. A sudden explosion flung Pi and Kame almost a feet from the power stricken Jin.
Not far off, Taiyou was holding a struggling Shoon down while Yabu had his weapon aimed at Hikaru who was on the ground, panting.
Just then there was an explosion and a massive twister of light emerged from the apex of SHIRO headquarters. It plunged upwards into the thick rack of clouds. Seconds later, small spherical glowing balls began raining down as meteors. One almost grazed Yabu who flinched as it stung slightly but was taken aback as it burnt a hole in the ground.
“We have a part of this energy, maybe that’s why we’re protected,” he wondered quietly. To Hikaru’s surprise, the older boy leaned over him quickly, holding him down. Another meteorite hit him directly; he yelled out in pain but didn’t move.
“Protect them!” he yelled at Taiyou. Taiyou’s frown was replaced immediately with a bright smile.
“Oii, what’s going on!” Hikaru protested as Taiyou covered Shoon. Yamada seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Grabbing Takaki’s hand he threw the older on the unsuspecting trio and stood near them, holding up his hand. A small shield formed around them.
Massu grabbed a shocked Tegoshi and rushed forwards to protect the huddled up civilians.
“I’ll go get transport,” he yelled at Jin who was standing in his shield with Pi and Kame. The latter nodded his reply.
“You gave me a bruise,” Pi huffed. Kame rolled his eyes.
“You deserved it,” Jin replied simply. Pi scowled.
*
“Yabu?”
Hikaru looked up at him concerned. The older had a pained expression on his face. The meteor rain had suddenly stopped but the twister of light was getting worse. Its heat was spreading with the wind and the ground was in constant vibration due to the force which propelled it into the sky.
“Tsu?” he called with his communicator.
“I don’t know what to do with this,” came the soft reply. Yabu felt a strange tugging inside. His glow was the strongest.
“Kota, Kota you’re the only one who can stop this,” Jin panted reaching him.
“How?”
“You’re the stimulant, it’s going out of control because of something you did,”
Yabu stared at his senpai. Hikaru stared at him shocked.
“Tsu is still in that room, that idiot!” Yamada exclaimed scowling. He was furious.
“I have to go,”
“Wait Yabu-kun, we don’t know what will happen to you if you get to close to it!” Yamapi said worriedly. Taiyou pulled him up onto his feet and looked at the other members of his team.
“This is our duty, all members of SHIRO…return to base.”
Believe me, come on tonight
as long as I'm with you it's alright
