Part 6 - Angels and Demons
The smooth clicking sounds of high heeled boots echoed off the walls of the long marble floored corridor as Shiro Tsu made her way to the doors at the end. She entered a complicated password swiftly before getting her palm scanned. She breathed deeply as the doors slid open and she walked into the brightly lit room.
It was a massive circular chamber; its walls lined by dozens of computers all monitoring different statuses and displaying various data. In the middle of the room was a large cylinder made out of glass, holding within it smoke which seemed to possess a subtle and ghostly glow. It was slowly flowing upwards from a hole in the floor. She walked towards it and placed a hand upon the cold glass. The glow intensified slightly.
She walked towards one of the computers to check on the statuses of the Warriors. She frowned. All had high heart beats except Yamada but Yabu’s status was going off the charts until the alert message appeared on the screen.
Something else was wrong too. She suddenly felt like somebody had turned on a fluorescent lamp nearby as she could feel a strange warmth spreading rapidly into the atmosphere. Her eyes widened as she witnessed the subtle glow of the energy within the cylinder intensifying into a blinding light.
“Oh no,” she gasped.

Yabu cringed and held down a yell as he was slammed against the wall. The impact made him feel dizzy. He opened his eyes slowly and flinched at the icy glare he received.
“Why?”
“Shoon let me go!” he yelled trying to remove the older boy’s hands that were gripping his shoulders painfully, pinning him against the wall.
“Why would you do something like this Kota, do you know what kind of position you’ve put me and Hikaru in?”
Yabu gaped back as he noticed the moisture accumulating in Shoon’s eyes.
“Why’s did you have to go and become our enemy?”
“I didn’t choose to be in SHIRO ok?” Yabu shouted successfully pushing him off making him tumble and fall onto the wet ground. Shoon stared up in shock.
“What?”
“Ya, I don’t remember how anything happened, I just woke up one day in their headquarters and they treated me as one of their own, I thought I was already in SHIRO from the beginning or something,” he replied, voice strained, hands gripping his hair. He was so confused.
“You were not in SHIRO, you were a civilian, a lover of peace, our best friend,” the other croaked. Yabu stared as Shoon broke down, surprise and hurt overwhelming him. He had never seen his friend like this before.
“You’re pathetic Yamashita,”
Both heads shot up to see a figure walking towards them, gun raised and pointing straight at Yabu’s head.
“Hikaru wait,”
“No Shoon we can’t, we can’t go back,”
Tonight's my last caution,
there's no going back...
“Yabu, tell me what do you understand about the difference between angels and demons?”
“What?”
“Just answer me damn it!”
Yabu stared at Hikaru. His hand was shaking as he held the gun up. His eyes, face were red.
“One is good, the other evil; a bringer of destruction,”
“What can hurt u more, the dark or extreme light?”
“I don’t understand what you’re trying to say,”
“Who do you think are the real angels?”
“Huh?”
“The light that you people possess will destroy us all dammit!”
Yabu could say nothing. He felt blank, dazed. One friend broken on the ground and other was constantly speaking in riddles.
“What Jin senpai did back there, you can do it too…Ko-chan,” Hikaru said the last word more softly. Yabu’s eyes shot up to face him.
“That’s why….that’s why you’re in SHIRO,”
Yabu looked at his hands. He did feel a strange energy flowing within him. It felt foreign.
“That energy that you protect, it can destroy us all,” Hikaru answered finally. He threw his gun onto the ground.
“Our superiors have given us orders to eliminate members of SHIRO because they possess traces of that energy and they also believe that a certain stimulant can trigger the energy’s full force and instead of protecting our planet it will destroy us.” Shoon continued sadly.
Yabu felt his breath coming in shuddering gasps.
“We need to reach the source so we can put a block on it, sealing it off, and the stimulant has to be found and completely destroyed,” Hikaru added pulling Shoon onto his feet, stumbling slightly in the process. Yabu was staring at the ground, it had started raining. His head felt heavy, eyes were growing misty. His hand tightened around the gun in his holster.
“Hikaru, pick up your weapon,” he said thru gritted teeth.
Even if it's not forever, I'll go my own way
Hikaru looked at him with a confused frown. His eyes widened though as Yabu raised the revolver, aiming for his heart. The older boy’s tears mingled with the rain.
“Pick up that damn weapon and shoot,” he yelled making the other two stare at him in shock. Yabu unlocked his weapon. Hikaru quickly reached for his then looked at Yabu again who was still rooted to the same spot.
“Don’t make me do this,” he croaked. Shoon was breathing heavily, his eyes darting from one to the other.
“If my existence really is such a bother than just end it for me, I can’t take this confusion any longer,”
Yabu felt like his sanity was slowly slipping away. A strange anger, power an energy was growing within him, like a monster waiting to be unleashed and it scared him.
“Do it before I do, there are plenty others I’m sure who’d gladly put a bullet through me,”
Takaki, Daiki, Yuto, Chinen, Shoon, Hikaru…
Yabu was crying now. His breathing raspy, shallow, his heart beat was rapidly rising by the second so much that it was making him dizzy.
Hikaru screamed out loud to the sky as thunder boomed overhead as he pointed the gun to his beloved best friend. His eyes flashed dangerously, hurt and anger evident in their dark depths.
“Guys,” Shoon croaked desperately.
“Please don’t do this!”

Jin skidded to a stop in a corner, gasping for breath. His powers (Tsu would kill him for using it openly though) had managed to get those boys from KURO off his tract. He looked at Yamada who was leaning against the wall next to him, his wet bangs covering the upper part of his face.
“You okay?” he asked concerned.
A quick nod…that was all.
Jin frowned before tapping his communicator on. He had an incoming call. Yamada started walking away.
“Akanishi senpai, where’s Yabu-kun?”
“We got separated,”
“Bring him back senpai,”
“What? Why? We still have half the pack to go after!”
“Forget the wolves, bring Yabu Kota back immediately,”
“Tsu?”
“UGH…Jin there has been a mutiny, Yamapi has betrayed us, he was a spy and he’s holding our scientists and some students’ hostage in the lab,”
“WHA-, I’ll get the others,”
“No just secure Yabu and bring him back immediately,”
“Fine, but I can’t leave Yamada behind,”
“You can, I’ve asked Taiyou to go get him,”
“What’s the rush?”
Tsu groaned in frustration.
“For God’s sake you airhead, Yabu’s the stimulant!”
A revolver dropped onto the wet ground just as thunder sounded overhead. Yamada who was a couple of feet away by now turned at the sound and immediately became alert at his senpai’s crestfallen features.
“N-no….no, this can’t be.”
the world will open it's eyes...
