2 Merlin drabbles

Title: Exo-Politics

Merlin remembered a time, long ago, when Arthur Pendragon was King.
A great man, a natural born leader, and a fair monarch.
Commanding a land that thrived under his rule.
Merlin fears what the world has become but he knows that this is the time he has been waiting for. He prays to the Gods often: “Open the skies over me. Bring back the one person who can lead them out of the darkness and into the light.”
“I’m waiting patiently,” he repeats, begging the heavens to release his love and only true saviour.
“I wait for the sun. Arthur.”

Come ride with me through the veins of history, Merlin whispered in the Prince’s ear, as they disappeared together, Uther watching from afar.
When the king saw Merlin he demanded his execution immediately, never once thinking of the servant’s loyalty towards his only son. The things Merlin had done to save the prince meant nothing. As Uther lowered his hand and the axe dropped, Arthur’s world collapsed. Merlin’s blood washed away any respect he had for the man the people called their king.
He’d lost what truly mattered to him.
So how can we win when fools can be kings?
These were both quite sad and depressing and I apologise. My real life tends to have an effect on the mood of my writing. Something happier next time I promise! Please don't hurt me!
