oh my god, i'm so sorry i'm just now getting to post this, because i had it all written out a few days ago, but my word processing program ate it and i just now finally managed to get the rest of this part to sound the way i had originally meant. also, i am totally using the abbreviations for some of the events, but that's because at least in my experience, what actual debate/speech kids do.

Andrew just gives him the biggest smile, like Jesse had told him his hero was standing in front of him and Jesse finds himself smiling slightly just from the sight of it. "Could you? Or is that going to make-"

"It is, but Emma is an expert on stalling, besides, these things always run late. Let me help, please, so I don't feel completely horrible about this."

"I-are you-actually, okay, I'd love some help." He pauses before sticking his hand out to shake. "I'm Andrew, by the way."

Jesse stares at his hand, marveling at the fact that he wants him to shake his hand after he says his name. He doesn't know any teenagers, other than him, who do that and it makes his smile grow a bit as he puts his own hand in Andrew's. "Jesse Eisenberg. Though, Jesse is typically what everyone calls me because no one uses last names in regular conversation."

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you then, Jesse Eisenberg. Even if it was under less than desirable circumstances, because I imagine you're in a bit of pain."

Jesse shrugs as he grabs a few pieces of paper, focusing on them instead of Andrew. "I don't feel that much pain right now actually, it may be a possible delayed reaction, I'm not exactly sure, but it's fine, these circumstances are fine. It makes it interesting, because if were ever telling someone about this, they might laugh. Probably at me, but I am the one who rammed right into your tubs, so it makes sense that you'd laugh at the one of us who was stupid enough to do that."

Andrew pauses halfway through picking up one of the file folders that was brimming with evidence to just look at Jesse incredulously. "It was an accident and I'm sure geniuses get in them, so being stupid isn't a requirement for running into the tubs." He moves over to set a tub upright on the cart and shoves the folder in there before looking back at Jesse. "Emma? Partner, right?"

"Yeah, Debate partner, though occasionally when she needs it also duo partner, but that's only when Penn can't come to a tournament, which isn't too often not that you really care because it's not your squad." Jesse turns around and hands Andrew several file folders, his fingers slightly brushing against Andrew's when he does. When he realizes that their fingers are touching he immediately pulls away, busying himself with picking up another file.

It takes Andrew a moment to shake the spark he feels when their hands touch and by the time he does, Jesse is already grabbing more papers. Andrew likes people, really, he doesn't remember a time when he truly hated someone other than perhaps the homophobes he had to deal with every so often and even then, it's really only an intense dislike, so the fact that he actually thinks Jesse is a pretty nice guy and might be awesome friend material isn't shocking. If Carey and Keira and pretty much his entire squad were here they'd be making bets on how long it would take him to worm his way into Jesse's life as a friend, but Andrew wasn't entirely sure if that would be all he wanted. Never had he met someone this disgustingly endearing from his tendency to speak far too much and his insistence on apologizing for something that wasn't just his fault should have been annoying but it wasn't. Andrew doesn't know how to deal with this, especially since he just met Jesse and it's not natural to like a person this much after what can't even be called a full conversation yet.

When Andrew finally speaks, his voice comes out a little off before he coughs. "That's just like my friend Carey and I, I usually get replaced by Keira when it comes to doing a duo, which is fine, because then I can relax and do my own. Do you do any other events?"
