So we presented the 3 minute plays we wrote, and I was so ridiccccc nervous. I realized that I can't be a playwright, because I was so nervous about this little shindig, what if I had like... a real play opening in like.. a real theater. Hah. Anyway, mine was first, and people were so, so supportive and it was really nice.
Yesterday, we went into town to find a place that we connect with and to do life studies. The place I connected to was the Awareness Shop, which is like a new age spirtual crazy place. I'm not into witchery or crystals or any of that, but it was fascinating. I also spent too much money getting a psychic reading done. It was interesting.
And life studies is actually terrifying. We all split up among the crowds of people and searched until we found a person who we just HAD to study. It couldn't be like "Well I saw this guy first" type deal. We follow them for 20 minutes, and take notes on their center of gravity, rate of breathing, rate of heartbeat/circulation, center of resonance, reverse pull, celestial pull, all this crazy stuff. And I was so lucky. My woman literally walked into my life like a gift from teh high heavens. On was on the phone with my Roomie (Marisa, she is wonderful) who called to talk to me about something, and this woman actually strode up DIRECTLY NEXT TO ME with her arms and legs flying out at different angles. I was like "GOTTAGOBYE", and just followed her for 20 minutes. I was so paranoid she'd see me. I had to hide behind a rack of pretzels in the grocery shop. It's so cool to follow people though, to see where they go and what they do. Like, we pass so many people day in and day out, but we never stop to think of the life they are leading after they leave you. So interesting.
Then at night we had this group trust mountain climbing exercise. But oh,not a REAL mountain. A lay on your stomach and trench crawl across this stage blindfolded while we throw things at you mountain. It was a great ensemble activity because we all depended on each other. I don't take well to blindfolds, so I basically screamed the whole time. And then rode the other people. James and the counselors ran it, and they would run around us and bang garbage pails over our heads, or knock something down next to us, or "crawl" on us, or spray us with water, or drag us back down the mountain. It was very frightening! My pants (or... Elisa's pants that I stole) got ripped and I was soaked and dirty after. Ugh. And then once you get up the mountian, you can take off the blindfold but can't talk, and then we walk in a line, and help each other move to another location out of the building which is still part of the "mountain."
So... best story of my life. We complete the first part of the activity and climb up the mountain blindfolded. Then we are crawling off the stage and into the house, and creeping throw the rows when the FIRE ALARM goes off. The dust distrubed the motion sensors. We get outside, firetrucks arrive. Like 2 police cars arrive. Sirens all around, alarm still going off, chaos. And there we were, holding hands and scaling the side of the building. Creeping. Because it was part of the exercise, we were being careful not to full off the side of cliff of the mountain. And we literally could not have looked more sketchy. And one cop gets out of his car and walks over to us, looks like he's going to say something, then gets freaked and leaves. Just... so funny. I mean, of all the things we could've been doing. Holding hands and SNEAKING. Then Peg, one of the leaders got into it with one of the policemen. They were like DO YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO BE HERE??? And the chief of police and the head of the department showed up and there was a fucking HELICOPTER. A HELICOPTER. And we just... continued with teh excersize. There were spazzing lights in teh building, just mad chaos. It was actually terrifying. We felt like convicts. It was so funny though. Ugh. And fun.
Today we started learning one of the things we're doing for the final performance. We're singing(ish) Bedlam boys while making pictures with our bodies and contorting into crazy positions. It's insane. Whoo.
Well I'm winded. I didn't go to dinner just now because YELAY IS COMING TO VISIT. And bringing McDonalds! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I am so excited. She's only about a half an hour away. I miss her dearly.
Last night we pulled off Operation Mexico during bedcheck. We all hid in Laura and Emily's room, cuz they are the first ones checked. So they counselors checked the two of them, didn't see any of us in the closets or under the beds, then go look in the other rooms and we're all gone. Then they come back, and we all jump out and scream AHHHH! LA POLICIA! it was ridiculous. But hilarious. <3BedCheckAntics.
I type like an excited 12 year old girl.
I am having too much fun here.
