Yesterday, Marc and friends packed into a van and we drove out to the Warren Dunes of Michigan. We partied on the beach of Lake Michigan and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I am supremely sunburned on the rump because that was the one place where I forgot to put sunscreen.
When we go to the bookstore together, Marc and I have a habit of reading books/magazines that strongly conflict with our personal political/social perspectives. I found a book called something like, "People Who Are Destroying America," which was an extremely conservative book that made many liberal politicians/celebrities look like fools. One of my personal favorite sections of the book had quotes from celebrities who were considered stupid and vicious. This was the best quote because it was so absurd (roughly quoted from memory): "When I look at the American flag, I am not filled with pride, but rage because I think of all of the hateful and cruel things Americans have done. Do you know what image makes me proud to be an American? When I see naked homosexuals marching in a parade yelling how proud they are to be queer while burning American flags. THAT's an image that makes me proud to be an American."
