So I've been religiously reading the recaps of
Bridal Mask at
Dramabeans and I can't help but be swooned over the bromance of Kang-to (Joo Won) and Shunji(Park Gi Wong).
I really do think that those two has great chemistry than the leading lady Mok Dan.
And it's heartbreaking, heartwrenching, and grief-inducive to think that there's a possibility that the bromance will be broken and Shunji will go to the dark side.
What made me write this post is episode 9 because I thought that the bromance is over when Shunji became a police officer.
But when it was shown that they still have that special friendship, I'm overwhelmingly happy that I can't contain it.
On the downside, the bromance is definitely going downhill in the latest episode so I wanted to do this in memory of Kang-to and Shunji's bromance.
(Note: The screen caps are not mine,I borrowed them from dramabeans.com so if you want to read the whole recaps, please visit their website)
The boys in happier times...a police officer and a teacher
.
Kang-to visits Shunji asking to him to fight for one round
Kang-to tell him that someday he hopes to bring to Tokyo his brother to be cured by the best doctors there.
A sleepover! ^_^
How they became friends...
Kang-to wants to learn kendo to be a police officer so he desperately begs Kenji (Shunji's brother) but he refuses. Shunji decides to teach him instead.
Later on,they fought on a tournament where Kang-to won against Shunji, but there were no hard feelings.
Shunji even helped Kang-to when he escaped from detainment(he was accused of conspiring with Gaksital when he is the one who earnestly tries to capture him, oh the irony!) earning the ire of his brother and father.
Everything started to go downhill, when Kenji shot Kang-to's mother and later on his brother,Kang-san died(he's the real Gaksital).
Filled with revenge, Kang-to disguised himself as Gaksital to confront Kenji.
He eventualy kills him due to anger but show remorse and regret when he realized what he was doing.
Shunji saw his brother's death and confronts Kang-to
Shunji crying for his brother...
Kang-to going back to his hometown where he was treated as a traitor...
Shunji defends him and takes him away.
excerpt from dramabeans:
[Shunji apologizes for being preoccupied with his brother’s funeral to go see Kang-to, and cries that he really liked Kang-san, too. Shunji: “If only Gaksital were captured sooner, that wouldn’t have happend to my brother, your mother and Kang-san hyung. If only you were at home instead of chasing him! How could Koreans have done such a thing?” Now both friends are crying, and Shunji asks what he’s supposed to do now. Kang-to cries into Shunji’s back and thinks to himself, “I’m sorry.”]
From dramabeans: [Shunji arrives at home and wakes Kang-to, who has fallen asleep during the ride. He urges him inside, but Kang-to starts to leave immediately. He’s got no home to return to, Shunji points out-but perhaps his chaotic, grief-stricken mind isn’t up to receiving Shunji’s kindness right now. Or maybe it’s his guilt over killing Shunji’s brother that can’t handle being here. Shunji asks fearfully what he’s intending to do, worried Kang-to might act rashly: “If something happened to you too, how am I supposed to live?” At that, Kang-to stops and levels him with an intense stare, saying fiercely, “After those bastards did that to my family, and to me, why the hell would I die?” Shunji tells him encouragingly that yes, he’s the tough Lee Kang-to who never let it get to him even when his own people cursed him: “So if Gaksital is alive, then you get him. Got it?”]
Shunji going to the dark side. He becomes a police officer, too.
Kang-to congratulates him. I really thought that their friendship is already strained here, thank God they're still good friends!
Uh oh! Shunji starts to become obsessed in capturing Gaksital.
He even joins the Kishokai to become his target.
omg. In episode 10, revenge-filled Shunji finally meets Gaksital...
Gone were the days when Shunji looked so gentle, now he smirks evilly than ever. How I wish, they'll still become friends in the end!
Even so, I'm still rooting for them to be friends in the end
