So the reason I've been missing for the last three weeks is due to my preparations for the Dream Kpop Fantasy Concert coupled with my procrastination and sheer laziness. Haha. If you go to tumblr and search for the tag DKFC, a lot of fanaccounts and fancams will appear. Initially, I wanted to post a similar thing but after one week, I think I'll just post my INFINITE experience and some afterthoughts about the events. After all, it's my first ever Kpop concert to attend, and well, my first CONCERT, too. Haha.
Before the concert, they had a press conference at the Manila Hotel last January 18,2013. That's a friday and unfortunately, I have a class in the morning so I wasn't able to follow them in the airport. My classes ended around 3pm so I decided to walk to the hotel because my university is just 10-minutes away. I'm wearing a uniform so I felt out of place at first but when I saw that others were in their uniforms, too, I was relieved. It's my first time to go to Manila Hotel and boy was it grand.
That old Manila grandeur that I always admire was right in front of my eyes! The ceilings, the halls, everything speaks of the Old Manila. We waited for one and a half hour for them to arrive. We only saw U-KISS, TAHITI and INFINITE. INFINITE was the last to hold their presscon and their really handsome!!! They were wearing black suits that makes them exceptionally fine. I learned during the concert that it's their custom to wear suits during presscons, haha, I'm such a clueless fan -_- INFINITE H is nowhere to be seen because their doing some shows for their debut album in SK.
After the presscon, I headed to Diamond Hotel where they will be staying and I met fans waiting in the front lobby for hours. They were hoping to get a glimpse of INFINITE because they didn't see a thing at the airport. They ditched the presscon and headed to Diamond hotel in the hope of being the ones to meet them first there. Unfortunately, INFINITE used the parking entrance and when we saw some commotion inside the lobby, we were exasperated because we can't see a thing. I felt bad for those fans who waited for hours and whose homes were hours away from Manila. But I'm thankful that I saw INFINITE up close, especially Woohyun who is really the KING OF FANSERVICE! haha. I can still remember how I almost got crushed in the glass barrier because fans were pushing forward when Woohyun went to our side.Haha.
JAN 19, 2013
The usual before-the-concert blunders are there. Waiting in line, thirst, hunger-thank you Snickers for giving me that energy kick, tiredness, going to the toilet, heat, and possible rain which thank God didn't happen.
I'm thankful to the 5 people I met during the wait because I have someone to talk to and spazz. There I met, 2 GG sis-bro combo fans, a very loyal GG fangirl who earnestly distributed "We thought you'd never come" banners in pink, an INFINITE/EXO fan girl who made me quite worried because her reactions just when we heard rehearsals by EXO looked like she would be the first one to faint during the concert, and a rabid EXO/INFINITE/GG fangirl who knew even the chinese songs of EXO. Thanks guys, you made me feel less of a fan after meeting you, haha. It's a compliment, seriously. I'm not the type of person who would make banners or even personally distribute them to fellow fans. I'm also not diligent enough to memorize every single song of a group. I'm not even determined to be one of the founding members of a Kpop club in my university. But because of you guys, I realized how Kpop makes one hopeful. Expectant for an upcoming album, concert, or shows. It made have something to look forward to.
After the concert, I'm still at a daze that the days following it were especially messy. I cannot concentrate on my classes and still daydream about INFINITE that night hahaha :P
Honestly, all of INFINITE(Sunggyu, Dongwoo, Woohyun, Hoya, Sungyeol, Myungsoo and Sungjong) looks the same like what you see in their music videos, music show performances, and variety show guestings. All handsome and definitely has this charisma that pulls you into their world.
This is their setlist during their "short" part (I do think that they should comeback here in Manila for a solo concert because their part is so "bitin" or not enough for an INSPIRIT like me haha):
The Chaser
- Cheers were heard during their first performance. The energy was high and the crowd was wild, fun, and screaming like banshees, haha. I did the usual thing that fangril would do, take a digicam and video them. I was starting to get tired because lots of people also wanted a piece of INFINITE. My arms are tired and even though I'm shouting at the top of my lungs, I'm just not enjoying the feeling. It was like I was mesmerized by them but that's it. So I decided to ditch my camera and watch them live. And that did it.
Paradise
- So I decided to watch them peform live in front of my eyes and not just in the front of the lcd of my digicam. And as the song went into the first chorus, I cried. The realization that finally! Infinite is here, right in front of me, singing, dancing, and giving fanservice!!! I cried and cried but I was happy. More than happy, if there is such feeling. Somehow, I feel some regret for not taking any fancam during this because after this song, they moved to the second stage and most of the time all I can see are their backs. But honestly, I know that deep inside, I wouldn't be able to fully savor the moment if I haven't ditched my digicam for a while.
In the Summer
-This is a very special song for me because this made me fall for INFINITE. I first heard of them in a SEOULBEATS.COM article. This site is also the one who cemented my love for CNBLUE and their Japan connection. Anyways, the article talked about "The Chaser" and blahblahblah. So I just played the song. It was forgettable. A few months later I saw Infinite in channel M in our cable via the show RANKING KING/INFINITE TV. I fell in love with their personalities and the weirdness of the show itself. Sungjong is the first member that got my attention. I followed him and Myungsoo in their ship which was Myungjong. Then it evolved to Woogyu, YaDong, and Myungyeol. Haha. During the first episodes of it, I was "researching"for their songs. Then "In the Summer" did it. It made me love their voice and their songs and now that I'm a full pledged INSPIRIT, I can't stop smiling while listening to this song for the nth time. After that, I watched Sesame Player, You're my Oppa, and many more mvs and listened to their songs. I went back to the "The Chaser" and seriously there's a difference after hearing it again. I love it and became my most loved song.
I actually never expected IN THE SUMMER to be performed in the concert. So I was pleasantly surprised that they sang it. My memory during this song is quite hazy because I'm still "recovering" from the buckets of tears that fell during "Paradise". They roamed around the stage area and held fans' hands. Woohyun took some phones and shot some SELCA,lucky fans!!!
Before the Dawn
- It was a mixed review for me on this song when I first heard of it. I don't like the mv except for the dance and group part. But the scorpion dance was epic! So I never deleted it in my iphone and listened to it, up to know, without knowing it's english translation, haha. So when they performed it during the concert, I was so giddy and excited. I can't wait to see the scorpion dance live but I knew that it's the right time to take a video. Haha.
Be Mine
-This was a nice song and after all, this made INFINITE number 1 in SK. So I was disappointed that they never got to finish it due to technical difficulty. This happened to the first part of Paradise, but at least it's not more than half so they can still start again. Arrgghhh, when it's just getting good, asdfghjkl!!! :(((
Nothing's Over
-I love how they handled the crowd after the abrupt end of Be Mine, Hoya was saying "Make some noise!" and his trademark "I say Ho you say Ya" to the crowd's delight. People around me shouted "We're sorry" because their first apologized for what happened, but honestly, we're the ones who are sorry because the sound people are just disappointing. Everyone shouted "Encore" and they decided to sing "Nothing's over". It's fun, light, and made us happy people again. Haha. They did more fanservice again, seriously, even U-kiss and Exo are not that into us fans that night in comparison to Infinite. Dongwoo is as giddy and rowdy as ever, dancing random steps while the song started. It made me smile because what personality they show on their tv programs are the same. They are so down to earth and so real. I feel proud as an INSPIRIT and I'm thankful that I'm part of this fandom. These boys are really working hard. They're not at their peak yet. So, as for me, this is also not yet over.
I'm not going to post detailed experience about GG, EXO, UKISS, TAHITI and TASTY. After all, I'm an Inspirit, haha LOL
I appreciate their performance and everything they did to us. I enjoyed them and GG also made me a kpop fan.
I'm thankful how they recognized the banners "We thought you'd never come" which hundreds of SONES felt.
I love how EXO made an effort to sing "Hawak Kamay" or "Holding Hands" which is a Filipino song and performed 7 other songs.
I love how they did their best despite the SASAENG FAN INCIDENT AT THE INCHEON AIRPORT where some members were hurt and the visa issue for the Chinese members.
I appreciate how TASTY did their best and enamored us even though there's also a technical difficulty during their part.
I love how TAHITI performed and I know that they put a lot of effort into it. And of course, I'm thankful that U-Kiss keeps coming back here and give their Pinoy fans more love.
There will still be more Kpop concerts this year for Manila. 2PM's solo concert is just around the corner. CNBLUE's solo is in negotiations and many more. Comebacks are going to be highly anticipated for this year. Even though my academic life is in a rollercoaster ride as of now and makes me depressed, Thanks to Kpop, I have something to look forward to and that I know that like my favorite groups INFINITE and CNBLUE, I have to keep moving forward. -_-
