This sure ain't the Hilton...

So just to let everyone know what I've already made clear throughout the past few months...I blame RJ. Approximately 4 hours after he warns me not to get myself arrested, I do...Clearly his fault...

In any case, the story:

On Tuesday, over 1,000 degenerates, bums, and innocent bystanders have been arrested for what normal people would describe as being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The wrong place at the wrong time in this case would be Harold Square in NYC.

I was participating in civil disobedience by protesting the deaths of 50,000 Iraqi civilians in an unjust(if there ever was a just reason for this) war. No violence was undertaken in this venture, and in fact multiple calls for "Giving the cops a raise" were proposed by the multitiude. Our only crime was not obtaining(not that we didn't ask for one)the necessary permits from Mayor Harold "The Facist Newsman" Bloomberg. Despite the fact that we stayed behind the barriers set for us by the NYPD, riot cops proceded to billyclub off the sidewalk.(notice-the "law" states that you are legally allowed to stage protests without a permit on the sidewalk as long as you don't block off more than 50% of the area). We proceded to march down the sidewalk and down the street and around the corner to continue the protest. When the police decided to block our progress down 7th Avenue, we turned around to pursue other locations to make our democratic voices heard. At that point the police blocked off our progress towards the other end, trapped us and arrested the whole multitude, including several local residents that had come down to plead our case as well as several restaurantgoers. This number approximated 200 people alone. While the press will oficially state the count as 1,000, police on-location told us that 1,200 to 1,700 had been arrested today.

I was handcuffed with Aaron "The Renegade" Garrett as well as his fellow Utah Health Promotion employee Heather. We were bussed to a Diesel Truck Storage Facility(filled with abestos, several cops have reported pissing blood since being stationed at the detention center aptly nicknamed "guatanamo bay" by its residents, and the NYCLU is proceeding with a lawsuit at this time over the unhealthful conditions) There I was thrown into a cage made of barbed wire and a wire fence, funny enough Mayor Bloomberg stated in this week's time magazine that no barbed wire would be used unlike the Democratic National Convention in Boston). WHile I was being excorted to this facility, I ran into a girl named Maureen whom I had taken out to lunch earlier that day(cute redhead, those of you who know how I lost the V-card know how I love redheads). She had also been arrested. People being escorted to and from our holding pens were cheered on by the local detention center residents in "Solidarity."

In any case, I made quite a few friends while I was in the detention center. Following my 24 hour detention, I was released with the promise of an asskicking if I am arrested in the State of New York within the next 6 months. The police have still not returned the property as of now, and I am lacking any means to get in contact with my roomates. I have not seen Heather or Aaron since by incarceration as we were separated shortly thereafter.

Other USC Progressives at the clubbings include Joshua Holland and Ben Beatty. Read Josh's take on the event at http://gadflyer.com/articles/?ArticleID=196. Josh was also recently on NPR on the Day to Day show this wednesday. Amazing to see how the community is starting to develop activists with good reach, unlike me. :)

In Solidarity,
