poker: KK unimprovable; to kill or not to kill

Played poker last night. Played really bad. Lost a bunch of money. Bah. At least I know what I did wrong.

Two questions rattling around in my head.

Game is 1-2-2 NL, 5 to go. This means no one can limp (that is, call the blinds). Instead, the first player must open for (at least) 5, and subsequent players can call the open.

I'm on the button, and during the deal, the dealer exposes the K♣. I have KK, and there is one limper to me UTG (not uncommon). In general, how much value does KK have here?

(No bad beat story-I raised, won the blinds, and showed. UTG+2 commented that he'd folded the other king, and in fact, he'd even made a joke about it that I didn't realize meant, "I'm folding a king.")

Second question. This game features an optional kill, NorCal lowball style. Any player except the blinds and the button may post 5, make the game 10 to go, and buys the right to act after the big blind before the flop.

How often should I be killing? I've taken to doing so pretty frequently in the cutoff, particularly if the button is weak. I figure if I can raise the stakes of the game when I've got position on six to eight players, it's got to be good. Or, at least not that bad.

(Sometimes the big blind can kill, too, depending on what the dealer says. I should really ask the floor to enforce that rule consistently.)

poker, 1-2-2, norcal, artichokejoes, nolimit
