SN Ep & Picspam!! ~ Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things
i confess, i've read more episode posts than i commented on.... this one just seemed to make us much more meta-prolific. if i didn't comment, it's cause there's a million out out there, and Jensen and his acting turned my brain to mush. again.
thursday night, i posted some brief thoughts on the ep... and now a few more thoughts on the ep...
Dean: I never should have come back, Sam. It wasn’t natural and now look what's come of it. I was dead and I should have stayed dead. So tell me, what could you possibly say to make that all right...
or, as Judd said in Pet Sematary, "sometimes dead is better." and about the Indian burial ground, he says that things come back changed, different, not the same anymore.
yes, Dean cheated Death twice, and both times someone else died in his place. and this time, it was John. which totally tears Dean up on the speculation alone. and Kripke has said that soon Dean will confirm this (sweeps month, which is november)
one thing i enjoyed is that Dean knows is stuff -- he knows the book is ancient Greek, and it just adding things together. in my discussions with other fans, i've come to the conclusion that Dean is quite smart... maybe smarter than Sam. a different kind of smart: street-smart, world-smart, knows what works and what doesn't, AND he knows Latin and ancient Greek. heh. that's my boy! :D
Dean kept focusing on things that are dead should stay dead -- and that included him, which solidifies my answer that in "Im My Time of Dying" Dean would have gone with Tessa, had John not made the deal he did.
on a lighter note, i caught the obvious Pet Sematary reference (hee!) and the Romero reference! (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead)
one more reference that i caught, i don't know if it was intentional or not... Lindsey stabs Angela with a pair of scissors.... in the movie Dead Again, Grace stabs an attacker with a pair of scissors. turns out, there's this whole huge backstory with them, but whatever. this was an awesome shout-out, if that's what it was.
