oh look, an update!

so much has happened since my last update back in April.

i completely didn't mention that we had to say good-bye to Max, our grey and white ancient dude kitty at the beginning of march. he was 17, almost 18, and had a good, long 11 years with us.

at the end of april, we adopted a 3-year-old floof named Rocky. him and Blackie really haven't progressed much beyond Blackie squeaking and Rocky hissing and then running back up the stairs. Rocky doesn't seem to like loud noises, and we think he didn't have much human (or other) interaction. he was surrendered to the shelter in march, we ... erm "fostered" him starting at the end of april, with the intent to adopt, which we did mid-may.

younger daughter made the decision to do the semester online from the comfort of home, instead of across the state 6 hours away. her and her roommate came to the decision unbeknownst to each other, and decided that if one doesn't go back out in the fall, the other didn't want to either, as the one returning would have a stranger for a roommate. out of her 5 classes, only one (stage management) meets in person, and she can still do that over zoom even though she's not there.

and then - the day her classes started online, we brought home two kittens that a friend of hubby had been fostering, so now, into the mix we've added two five-month old furballs of energy, Ash (full name Ashton), and Oreo. Rocky seems to be all right with them, sometimes wanting to play, sometimes hissing at them because they've snuck up on him or something. Blackie has turned into an old dude curmudgeon, squeaking at them and wanting to take pokes at them, and hissing at them to git out of his kitchen! (well, that's my interpretation anyway.

tv stuffs: i've had a show on this whole time, the 100 is airing it's final season, and then last few episodes start up again tomorrow (wednesday, 9/9). i can't wait for Supernatural to come back and finish up, as i recently commented on a post, that it'll be like seeing old friends again after a long time, and the time just melts away. i saw that after the show finally wraps, Jensen gets to take an Impala home. yaay!

on a serious note: my dad died back at the end of april, he was 77 years and one month. my mom's been hanging in there as best she can. at the beginning of april (i think it was) she told me the most shocking thing i could have ever expected to hear her say - the daughter of my first cousin had died suddenly in her sleep! her roommate couldn't wake her up, so 911 was called. the daughter - S - was only 6 months younger than my older daughter. yikes. and then yesterday, my mom told me that the cousin of my sister-inlaw died of a heart attack. when my sister-inlaw posted something, she called him her "cousin brother," they were that close. the family actually lives like 10, maybe 15 minutes away from me. and the icing on this crappy cake is hubby's Aunt (who lives in georgia) has COVID, and was placed on a ventilator yesterday (mon, 9/7). she also has COPD, and that's worrysome too.

also, yesterday, younger daughter got her first car, it's a 2006 VW Bug with over 100,000 miles on it, but now she doesn't have to share my car anymore. XD

finally - KITTENS!
Oreo~

Ash~

edit to include an update about the jobs - at the beginning of june, my office job went back to Mon-Thurs, and my retail job went into full swing of opening up, after a few weeks of being open for curbside pick-up. i started back in mid-may with bringing the curbside orders out to the cars, and then the beginning of june, *bam* it's been like xmas season! yikes.
