Supernatural S2 (Re)Watch

Simon Says... Sam needs more visions, and Dean needs to sing more. ;)

yep, we watched Simon Said tonight. i really wished Eric hadn't listened to the fans when he completely wrote off the Special Children storyline. Sam still should have had residual visions (they're like splitting migraines... with pictures). there just feels like there's so much more that Eric could have done with what he had to work with. what happened to all those urban legends that are out there?

while it doesn't bother me (or J, either), i think most people got turned off by the serialization of the later seasons - the stand-alone MotW epsiodes just felt out of place in a serialized show. S2 was still episodic, with the overall arc woven through every other or every second epsiodes.

i watch Lost and 24 - both are highly highly serialized, and i enjoy both shows a LOT.

i watch Monk, Medium and Castle - these shows are completely episodic, and i enjoy those too.

as i was typing this up, J was telling me that she likes the serialization of S5 - the episodes end on enough of a cliffhanger to get to you come back next week, with the occassional "non-sequitur" MotW epsiode here and there.

the girls want to rewatch "Changing Channels." a friend asked me "why?" i said cause they're kids. M will watch the same episodes of the shows she likes on Disney over and over. (and when i point it out, she says "yeah... and?") it's a kid thing - and very refreshing, espcially in this buckets o'crazy fandom. ;)

EDIT - OMGs! ok, so in Simon Said, Anson kills their birth mother, the doctor... cause they were getting in the way. i'm on supernaturalwiki.com for another post, and it suddenly sinks in - there's an item in the timeline -

* 1983-2006. Information from Ruby in 3.04 Sin City
o People associated with Mary Winchester including family, friends and her doctor are killed by the Yellow-Eyed Demon"
