Our new home

Been a long time sine I've written, I guess. So I'll fill in those who are interested, the rest of you....carry on :)

We finally got moved into our new place this month. It is HUGE! Probably about the same square footage as the place in Olympia, but much nicer and better laid out. Can we say gorgeous??? I'm in love with the 6-8 butt kitchen. All done in wood. Really pretty. 2 very large decks, one in the back that at one time had a hot tub so take a guess .....The other deck has built in benches and is covered. Makes for nice nights of smoking outside and watching the awesome lightning storms.

The master bedroom sits literally in the center of the house, so it stays nice and cool during the hot days. Also stays dark which will be nice if I get put back on grave shift. Has a 3/4 bath and huge walk-in closet, as well. Really big living room with a gorgeous bay window w/ bench and French Doors leading into the den that runs the entire depth of the house. That is our computer room / library. Still lots of boxes in this room since we need to build the bookshelves yet. There's a large main bathroom on this floor as well.

Upstairs we have a guest bedroom, for visisting out of towners (hint...) and what will soon be our sewing room. The entire upstairs is done in wood, so it gets this awesome reddish-gold glow in the afternoons. There is also a small bathroom up there.

In the basement is a very large laundry room, equipped with build in cabinets that appear to have been designed for someone who does lots of canning. Yay! There's also a large bonus room that is Kenneth's craftroom...equipped with a built-in gun cabinet for the 3 rifles and 1 pistol that we currently have. There's also a mudroom down there which holds our deep freezer. It also has a small area, with built in shelves and cabinets where we will store house-repair type stuffs ie paints, household tool box, etc.

The large two-car garage makes Kenneth foam at the mouth :) But he only gets HALF of it, dammit! The other half gets to protect me from having to go out in the sub-zero winter mornings to scrape the snow and ice off the van. I really like that it has an automatic garage opener too. I'm all about avoiding being cold as much as possible.

We are on one of the main streets through town, so I get to sit out on the side deck and watch the world go by. And the view from the front of the house consists of the front of the University of Montana-Western. Complete with it's beautifully kept lawn, trees, and Row House (donated by Ted Turner) and the Main Hall. The Main Hall was originally a cathedral, so of course it is really pretty.

All in all, we have no complaints about this house at all. Except that we do not own it. Maybe that will change in the future, we'll just have to see.
