The Body of Christ... lets let people be who they are and try to stop changing them...

So I got up early today and went running that was amaizng. 7:30 in the freaking morning on a Sat. but hey it was for practice so thats okay. Soccer practice. I know I am playing soccer, this should be fun.

But then I spent some good time with the Lord and that was amazing. I read through 1 Corinthians 12 today and got some really good stuff out of it, I thought I would share it with you guys!

My notes from this morning...

1 Corinthians 12- Spiritual gifts:

There are all kinds of spiritual gifts and God is the only one who gives those gifts to people. They are given; not worked for not practiced and come, God gives them to us, as gifts, their free. You should practice them and pray for the Lord to give you them. 12:5- service; is to the Christian community. 12:6- working; indicates power that is in operation. SPIRITUAL GIFTS PRODUCE RESULTS THAT ARE OBVIOUS! The gifts are to be used to build up the spiritual community. They are to be used for others. It is evidence that the Holy Spirit is working in our lives. the gifts are not to e used selfishly, they are to be used for others and of course for God too (12:7)

12:12 There is one body but many parts... this is really where I learned something new!! I began reading this and thinking about different parts of the body. This is how the church is set up. we are all parts of the body and we all work together for the good of all the church. But also with that each part of the body is distinctly different and works in a different way. If they worked any other way then the body would not function right.

I began to think about this and how much the church fights about teenagers acting and dressing certain way, and others fight about how the old people are set in their ways. When in all reality, we all need each other. No no one is going to work the same way as the other person but that is the beauty of it. We aren't supposed to work like that. We each, each one of us has a role to play in the body. Even the pierced, tattooed, black clothing people, that look nothing like the so called "church". But really what is the church supposed to look like.

Look at your body and tell me what parts look the same. Even our eyes and our arms have different characteristics. They all look a bit different and they all work in a different way. What would we do if our eye decided that the heart should work the same way as him. It wouldn't happen. our body couldn't take it. Or if our hand had to act like a foot. It just wouldn't work.

So why do we put people into molds and try to change people from the way that they really are. God made each of us different and original. I think that it is time that we take ahold of our differences and allow them to work together. And not fight. we don't want to be a body that mutates and then ends up committing suicide because we can't stand parts of our body. No we need to work together, and grasp hold of our differences.

Let the people that are supposed to be the hands be the hands and those who are supposed to be the feet be the feet. Let the teenagers be the way that God made them, work the way that God made them to work. let the elder people work the way and be the way that GOd has taught them to work. Lets try to stop changing people, and just help them grow and be who they are in the Lord. And let us work together as a body and grow!

There is other notes but I think I am going to leave it at that. Have an amazing day! I am going to go soak up some sun shine.
