I enjoyed 'Duende' as well, but heavens, the punctuation! Or is that just me being a pedant..? ;)

*wry smile* - see, I can't comment. If it wasn't for my lovely, lovely beta people, from whom pendantry is a gift and not an issue, I'd be in the same position!

I must admit that what threw me slightly - and only very slightly, for the whole of it I really loved - was the frequent conjunction of sex and vegetation. I am suspecting the recipient to prefer their congress al fresco, but could be wrong!

Hey. Hope it was a good Christmas - and a merry New Year to you and the beasts also, down South.

It was just a little too scattershot punctuating for me - kind of 'oh, if I throw enough colons and semi colons in there, some of them must end up in the right place...'. Unless it was deliberate, in which case I shall reserve judgement.

And I think the al fresco business was more intended to give an idea of the urgent need to get it on, right here and right now, baby! ;)

Meanwhile, me and the beasts wish you joy of the season too!

So, with Duende, do you know whether the AU was down to crossover or originality? I wasn't planning to read it properly, because the thought of NC-17 Jack/Stephen doesn't really appeal, but I skipread as far as the point where they started talking about swordmasters and then I got too confused and ran away.

I just had another brief look at it, and I see what graculus means about the punctuation - I know O'Brian goes in for long sentences, and I know I've abused a few semi colons myself, but that was definitely overkill.

Sorry for the late reply! It's definitely AU and not crossover, although remiscent (in a good way) of Temaire, if you've read. It's a bonding story, really, but what I liked about it was the old-fashioned formality of the thing - like a 1950s Regency romance. The sex is non too explicit, either, and certainly not at the heart of the story. Which I also liked!
