I think my life has a little too much excitement lately. So Monday, my dad had his heart attack. On Wednesday I got electrocuted. Yep. I was hoping I would attain some superhero powers from it like they do in the movies but no such luck. Anyways... leave it me, huh?
I was just closing the refrigerator when I reached for the drawer to get a fork. Thus began the fun. My whole body was shaking and I couldn't breathe or let go for about a minute. It was definitely scary. Finally I broke loose and apparently started screaming, cause Jess and Colin came running into the kitchen. I had to go to the hospital and get an EKG as well as an X-Ray on my finger. There's an exit wound where the electricity came out; it was bleeding right after and looks kind of nasty now. Turns out I got away with just a pulled tendon in that finger and can't use it for awhile. Not too bad I guess.
Maintenance came by and measured the volts coming out of the fridge. Turns out it was 125 volts. I didn't know if that was a lot or not (although it certainly felt like a lot!), so I did some research online. Most sites said the same things. Here's a quote from one. "At the house voltage frequency, as little as 25 volts can kill." Guess I lucked out.
This has definitely not been a good week!! The scary part is this happened exactly one month after I sprained my ankle, for which I am still wearing a brace. I don't think I ever wrote about that. It happened over break so no one was on campus. I fell on the ice going out to my car. I have never had something hurt that much!! (Well, maybe until this past wednesday.)
I thought I broke it, from the pain, and I heard a snap. Well, I ended up having to crawl all the way back into my house cause I couldn't put any weight on it at all. It took me like 20 minutes just to get in the house, of course sobbing the whole time. I had to get an X-Ray at my dad's office a couple days later when I went home. My dad said some sprains can be worse than breaks though.
I couldn't walk at all the first couple days and poor Colin had to wait on my constantly. I still have a little limp, and like I said, have to wear the brace. And it's still huge!! It doesn't look like the swelling went down, but my dad says it might take another month.
I wonder what will happen by then?
