You raise some interesting points about possible motives and the science of it all, but I think you're giving the Malnosso too much credit. I don't get the feeling that they're the kind of "save the world" scientists kidnapping us for the good of mankind and scientific discovery; rather, attaching wings to our central nervous systems implies a bit less charity.

Then why even look into their methodology? Even assuming you could redeem it for your own purposes, the research is drenched in blood.

Before that, we would need to find a way to retain memory upon leaving here. It seems that people frequently return home and come back with no memory of having been here. As it is now, learning how to adopt their methods for use outside here is fully a waste of effort.
