In an effort to keep myself productive, I think I might start posting what I've accomplished every day.
As for today, I had my last day of work at Michael's.
At least, I assume it's my last day of work. The schedule for this week only had me for today, and I put in my two weeks roughly two weeks ago (lol) so I'm assuming that I'm done.
They didn't make a big deal out of it, though I didn't expect them to. Since I worked in the morning, it was mostly truck people that I never have to deal with or talk to, so they don't know me well. When replenishment and extra cashiers came in, it was new people who have no history with me. As for the managers, it was the one from Hell, whom I don't deal with much so I didn't care, and the one I really like (Bonnie). Bonnie seemed happy/sad that I was leaving. Happy 'cause it meant getting out of there, sad 'cause I'm one of the good ones. She called me a traitor again, which made me laugh.
And the highlights of my last shift?
-Had a deaf couple trying to return something. I felt bad because I didn't realize right away that both of them were deaf, so I had turned to the other, hoping that he could communicate, but no go. Didn't help that they were trying to do a return, but doing the typical thing that most customers do (wanting to do an exchange), so I had to help them understand that it had to be two separate transactions. Luckily, communication barriers were bridged by the end of it. Still felt bad though, like I had unintentionally made things more difficult than they needed to be.
-Had a woman return 7 large mirrors, each on separate receipts. none of them had barcodes on 'em, so I had to type in the number each time.
-Had a polish woman come to do a return. 'twas fine, gave her the money back, etc. She went off to do more shopping, and then came back maybe 25, 30 transactions later, saying that I hadn't given her the correct amount of change. So we had to get a manager to come count the drawer to figure out if it all added up correctly. Guess what. it did. BAM LADY!
-The P from Hell was cranky right away this morning when we were bringing out the sidewalk. All of the truck people were complaining about it. it's 'cause they get really picky about what sides of the door the carts go on. Sale stuff is supposed to go on the right, normal price stuff on the left. Although that isn't ALWAYS the case. So lots of things ended up on the wrong side and she got pissy that she had to redo it.
-Since it was a truck day, got a bunch of boxes for up from, which included 5 HUGE boxes of Godiva chocolate. Only problem was the display was already packed of chocolate from the last truck, so nowhere to put it.
Not my problem though. I'm all done :)
Came home and took too long of a nap. The heat got to me. We don't have the air on, even though it's much warmer than yesterday.
Worked a little bit more on the Common Core Standards.
Currently running the dishwasher of my IWU dishes and the ones I got from the garage sale, so I can start packing 'em into boxes.
I need to be more productive tomorrow. But I won't be working at all, so that should help.
Doctor's appointment tomorrow to get my physical.
Brunch with Josh on Wednesday at IHOP to catch up.
Lunch with Steph and Claire on Thursday at Portillo's to catch up.
Potentially some Arrested Development with Jenn and Stacy this weekend? and sh'maybe a few garage sales if they're up for it?
I am very, very glad that I don't have a boyfriend or crush on some guy at the moment. I've got enough going on. I suppose I have my polar opposite nature of Jenn to thank for that one, since we tend to switch off/take turns when it comes to boy issues or intense feelings. And that works out well for us, 'cause it means the one is always pretty free to be patient and restore sanity for the other.
And I like that :)
