The Americans allowed hypocracy to fly rampant- in revolting against England, in creating a Declaration of Independance which states that "All (white) men are created equal", in flighting for liberty against British tyranny and Fighting a war FOR FREEDOM,--- while still allowing for an enslavement of people in their own country.....
slavery began early in the 17th century and would last until the emancipation proclamation of 1863.
Slavery was a central issue in american politics for years, and a war would even be fought over it.
After slavery,
anglo-saxon, white supremacy was still rampant.
and a hundred and forty years of racism was still predominanly central.
Blacks were free yes, btu equal they were not.
"I have a dream"
and 40 odd years after Martin Luther King Jrs, stuggle for equal and civil rights,
this dream has been realized.
"And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
