Because Evidently I Have Nothing Better To Think About

This post contains spoilers, but only for the 2-3 people on LJ in my Wednesday night game. I've got an idea started, but am having trouble with the details.

So what's so important about El Dorado? This is a new Scion game I'm planning. The concept I'm working with (and consequently, the game's title) is "The Battle of El Dorado." The idea is to have the players discover the legendary lost city of gold, and then defend it from titanspawn attackers. They'll need to find/obtain (read: steal) a map to find it, then follow this map through the jungles of Colombia to actually locate the place. All the while ducking Colombian drug camps, an enemy band of Scions, and the occasional Nemean beastie.

My problem is trying to figure out why El Dorado is so important. Sure, discovering El Dorado would be exciting for any normal mortal, but why is it divinely important? Why do the Gods care? Ideas I'm playing around with:

--El Dorado was the Worldly home of Xipe Totec (Aztec god). During the war, Coatlicue (Titanic avatar of Terra) found him and attacked. Realizing there was no way to defeat Coatlicue and save his home, XT hid it from the World so that none, not even the Gods or Titans, could find it. Now he wants it back, and so do the Titans. This one raises the question of "Why does XT want it back?"

--El Dorado is the actual location of the Fountain of Youth. Obviously, in the wrong hands, this terrae incognitae could be catastrophic. It has to be protected.

--El Dorado is the home of the Balamob, jaguar people of South American legend. They would be powerful allies for either side of the Overworld War. If only someone could find them...

Any input is greatly appreciated, including something new or telling me to go back to the drawing board.

Then again, I could just say The Green Lady did it and call it a night.

I can't wait until this whole Wednesday night thing gets ironed out.

"You've gotta pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues/
And you know it dont come easy."
--I have no idea who sings that song, it's just stuck in my head right now.
