As much as I hate sounding like a one-note joke, it's Thursday morning, the morning after the dreaded Wednesday night game, and I feel the need to vent.
So last night, we played D&D. Naturally, it went swimmingly. Everyone that had given me such earth-shattering headaches over the M&M game knew exactly what they were doing, played perfectly gregarious characters (except Neckbeard, but that's another story), and all around got into the story of it. Which is hilarious, because Chris' games are more about cracking skulls than hobnobbing at gala parties.
Chris and I were discussing this later, and we both agreed that this group is not used to our style of play. They keep waiting to be taken by the hand and told "This is what your character does." That's not how we roll. We both run things more like "What does your character do?"
So this is what we decided. Next week, we're going to have an airing of greivances. Yes, I know we've only played for a few weeks, but this needs to happen. We're going to put our egoes aside and just let everyone know what they think of these games. They either don't get or aren't enjoying M&M, and if they want to play something else, I am open to that. I've already started working on a Scion game to run. And while I'd love to run something that has a bit more pathos, a bit more emotional attachment, if these guys wanna crack skulls, I won't be able to stop them.
...And that's the latest on Days of Our Randomly Generated Lives.
